‘Wednesday’s Enid & Wednesday: Should They or Shouldn’t They Get Together?
Forget Xavier (Percy Hynes White ) or Tyler (Hunter Doohan ), Wednesday (Jenna Ortega ) has one true love — and that’s Enid (Emma Myers ). At least, that’s a theory fans have been working on after seeing the two roommates turned best friends get closer. Complementing each other with the “black cat” and “golden retriever” energy, they could be meant to be.
Thrusting into the same dorm room, the duo could not be more different if they tried. Enid’s struggle to truly know Wednesday was quite exhausting, but isn’t an easy journey overrated anyway?
The Raven, a clairvoyant with negative thoughts, and the young werewolf quickly appeared to care about one another. Yet, Wednesday’s inherent character trait of being a reclusive individual made it hard for her to share the protectiveness power she felt for Enid from the minute they met.
With light horror tales, a mystery or two, and odd family members, Wednesday always kept the viewers entertained.
So much so that Ortega is right: a love story shouldn’t be central to the plot. However, that doesn’t mean there will be zero romantic elements to the show moving forward. Wednesday and Enid could embrace the friends-to-lovers trope eventually, but should they? Are they better off as just friends?

PRO: They are already friends Look at Enid’s bright face. What is she doing? Trying to make Wednesday feel welcome.
With no mean bone in her body, it makes sense that the happy-go-lucky student wanted Wednesday to enter her inner circle.
Wednesday on her end is a little more apprehensive. She’s not used to this kind of environment. And because of her special powers — the raven in her — as well as her ties to Goody, she prefers to keep people at arm’s length.
Her willpower to keep the blonde werewolf off her mind quickly fails, and the two become unlikely friends, or, could it be more?

CON: They are friends Always eager to show Wednesday around, Enid is the definition of a true friend. And although friends can always turn into something more, they shouldn’t always go there.
Enid feels like she has learned from Wednesday: “I just asked myself, “WWWD? [What Would Wednesday Do?]” This implies that she trusts the course of action that Wednesday would take.
Wednesday, on her end, also become more inclined to trust Enid as time goes on. She even admitted to missing her when she moved out for a bit after Wednesday almost got her killed.
Okay, she didn’t fully admit it, but rather blamed it on Thing.
Enid is Wednesday’s first actual friend and a relationship could mess that up. Is it worth to risk their bond just to see whether they might work or not?

PRO: Opposites attract Vibrant, colorful, giddy Enid emulates the exact energy she tries to capture in her everyday life. Her bubbly personality is shown through the many shades of pink throughout the series.
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s goth aesthetic allows people to figure out her personality before she ever even says a word. Trying to come across as more off-putting and evil than she really is, she is shocked when Enid breaks through her shell.
She is even more shocked once it’s revealed that she has truly started caring about her.
And, I mean, aren’t “opposites attract” and “closed proximity” some of the most used tropes in romance?

CON: Wednesday made Enid disobey the rules Jericho, Vermont, will never be the same after Wednesday rolled into town. Uncovering the dark past of the town’s ancestors, now the inhabitants and their school Nevermore Academy have to worry.
Trying to be secretive, Wednesday somehow still gets Enid involved. Something she didn’t necessarily want.
Being the stubborn person that she is, Enid decides to help and occasionally makes matters worse, but she only has the best intentions in mind.
And, hey, it’s good that someone was there to protect Wednesday from Tyler. He didn’t really have the best intentions in mind… Looking at you, Mrs. Thornhill (Christina Ricci ).
This does, however, prove that the two will always be there for each other. Yet, this is also something Enid never would’ve been involved with if it wasn’t for Wednesday.
Sure, it is admirable that she helped her save the school and town, but what if Enid won’t be able to keep up with Wednesday?
Vlad Cioplea / Netflix
PRO: Both are competitive The ones who compete together end up together, right?
Alongside Enid’s group of friends, the two end up competing against three other teams during “The Poe Cup.”
Having to join forces for a common goal is bound to make people closer. So, it should be no wonder that it would do that to Wednesday and Enid.
They also won because of their competitiveness. A win all around.
Vlad Cioplea / Netflix
CON: They have different love languages Enid always wants to hug Wednesday, which is something the Addams family member doesn’t really appreciate. Hugging is just not her style. Neither is any color other than black. As Wednesday puts it to Enid, “I’m allergic to color.”
Through the woes of the season, Enid often still tries to go for a hug, yet Wednesday always declines.
Until, of course, that one faithful day when Wednesday almost dies and Enid does everything in her power to save her friend.
Wednesday runs into her arms and the two have an intense embrace: the definition of true love.
If they one day become a couple, this could lead to some issues as their love languages simply don’t match up.
This could cause some frustration. They would likely never be able to satisfy each other’s needs. Wednesday will never be as physically affectionate as Enid would want.
