Shifting Gears is one of the highly-anticipated new shows of 2025. The ABC comedy series will unite Tim Allen and Kat Dennings on TV. The experienced actors have both excelled in the comedy scene, so now, fans are excited to see the magic they’ll create together. The series follows a widower, played by Allen, who takes in his estranged daughter (Dennings) and her kids.

Tim Allen
Celebrating nearly two decades of marriage, Tim Allen and Jane Hajduk are still going strong. The actors prefer their private life and don’t talk much about their relationship to the press. They became enthralled by each other in 2001, two years after Allen’s separation from his first wife, Laura Deibel. His divorce from Deibel was finalized in 2003.
Allen (real name Timothy Alan Dick) and Hajduk have one daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, 15. She stars alongside the Home Improvement actor in Disney+’s The Santa Clauses. He also has another daughter, Katherine Allen, 35, with Deibel.

Kat Dennings
The love story between Kat Dennings and Andrew W.K. all started on Twitter (now X). After he posted a selfie in 2014, Dennings responded by saying, “You are a tall drink of milk AWK.” After that, it took a few years before their relationship actually developed into something real. W.K. was married to someone else, and Dennings was dating Josh Groban.
Yet in 2021, the Two Broke Girls actor surprised her fans by revealing her relationship with W.K. and the news of their engagement within the span of a month. In 2023, they made things official with an intimate wedding.
Jenna Elfman
Jenna Elfman, who will recur in Season 1, and her husband, Bodhi Elfman, have been attached to each other since the previous century. Yes, that’s right. They met in 1991 while auditioning for a Sprite commercial. They tied the knot four years later in 1995. They converted to Scientology as adults had a podcast together titled Kicking and Screaming. The Elfmans have two children.
Brenda Song
Brenda Song will be one of the guest stars in Shifting Gears Season 1. She and fellow child star Macaulay Culkin found each other in 2017. Over the years, they’ve allowed the world to see snippets of their relationship. Showcasing their adorable chemistry on the red carpet, occasional Instagram posts, and podcast appearances, the two have become a beloved Hollywood couple. They have welcomed two kids into the world together, Dakota, 3, who was named after Culkin’s late sister, and a second child, which was confirmed in March 2023 by the Home Alone icon’s brother, Kieran Culkin.
Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell often shares tales about his personal life on his social media platforms, yet his relationship isn’t shown much. It is reported that he is married and share three kids. While he’s private about certain areas of his life, the NCIS: New Orleans alum has divulged how excited he is about his upcoming role in Shifting Gears.
Seann William Scott
Seann William Scott is currently single. He finalized his divorce from Olivia Korenberg in May 2024. The American Pie alum and his ex-wife tied the knot in September 2019. They separated just four years later in October 2023. Since then, he has not been public about any other potential dates he’s been on. Scott and Korenberg are the proud parents of a daughter named Frankie Rose.
