26 Romantic Comedies & Dramas to Watch in 2025: ‘Bridget Jones 4’ and More

Romance is the main dish onscreen in 2025. From the return of fan favorites to romantic thrillers to teen dramas, TV and movies have a full plate when it comes to love.
Starting off strong in January is the return of XO, Kitty. The second season will feature the return of our beloved movie boyfriend Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo). If you’re looking for some love gone wrong, look no further than Companion, starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid.
Renée Zellweger makes her triumphant return as Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, featuring One Day‘s hunky Leo Woodall. For the Emily Henry lovers out there, her first book-to-screen adaptation, People We Meet on Vacation, will be hitting Netflix this year.

XO, Kitty Season 2 (Netflix)
Release Date: January 16 on Netflix
Kitty (Anna Cathcart) returns for a new semester at KISS, and she’s ready for a fresh start. Since this is a Covey sister we’re talking about, there will be plenty of romance in the Seoul-set second season. Plus, Peter Kavinsky is back!

Wish You Were Here (In Theaters)
Release Date: January 17
Julia Stiles makes her directorial debut with the adaptation of Renée Carlino’s bestselling romance Wish You Were Here. The story follows Charlotte, a young woman who shares a perfect night with a perfect stranger. Soon, she discovers a shocking secret that changes everything she believes about the man who captured her heart in just one day. The movie stars Isabella Fuhrman and Mena Massoud.

Marked Men: Rule & Shaw (In Theaters)
Release Date: January 22
The Notebook director Nick Cassavetes helms Marked Men: Rule + Shaw, based on Jay Crownover’s 2012 novel Rule. Shaw Landon has always had feelings for Rule Archer, but he’s seen her as just a friend. After a night of unexpected intimacy, these two have to face their feelings and the outside forces against them. Chase Stokes and Sydney Taylor star as Rule and Shaw. Alexander Ludwig, Ella Balinska, and Natalie Alyn Lind also star.

Companion (In Theaters)
Release Date: January 31
Yellowjackets breakout Sophie Thatcher stars in this romantic horror film alongside Jack Quaid. Not much is known about the plot, but this is a love story gone horribly wrong.

Love Me (In Theaters)
Release Date: January 31
Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun unite for the sci-fi love story Love Me. A buoy and a satellite meet online and fall in love after the end of human civilization.

Kinda Pregnant (Netflix)
Release Date: February 5 on Netflix
Amy Schumer is ready to bring the laughs again with her latest rom-com. Jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy, Lainy (Schumer) wears a fake baby bump…and accidentally meets the man of her dreams. Will Forte, Brianne Howey, Jillian Bell, and Damon Wayans Jr. also star.

The Gorge (Apple TV+)
Release Date: February 14 on Apple TV+
Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy play two elite snipers who are assigned to guard sides of a deep and impenetrable gorge. As they protect opposites sides of the gorge, sparks begin to fly between them.

You're Cordially Invited (Prime Video)
Release Date: January 30
Prime Video continues its streak of rom-coms with You’re Cordially Invited. When two weddings are accidentally booked on the same day at the same venue, each bridal party must find a way to persevere their family’s special moment. The father of the bride (Will Ferrell) and sister of the other bride (Reese Witherspoon) go head-to-head in a battle of weddings.

Sweet Magnolias Season 4 (Netflix)
Release Date: February 6 on Netflix
Your three favorite Serenity ladies (and their margaritas) are back for Season 4. Sweet Magnolias returns to Netflix this winter. Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) face twists and turns in their romantic lives and must also navigate the return of old foes, the loss of great loves, and the pain of transition from past dreams to present ones.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (Peacock)
Release Date: February 13 on Peacock
Zellweger is back as the one and only Bridget Jones. Nearly a decade after Bridget Jones’s Baby, the titular character returns in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The rom-com, based on Helen Fielding’s novel of the same name, follows Bridget as she navigates life following the death of her husband, Mark (Colin Firth). Woodall, Hugh Grant, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Emma Thompson also star.

La Dolce Villa (Netflix)
Release Date: February 13 on Netflix
Netflix remains a destination for romance content. In La Dolce Villa, successful businessman Eric (Scott Foley) travels to Italy to stop his daydreaming daughter Olivia (Maia Reficco) from restoring a crumbling villa. Italy, however, has different plans for him as it delivers on its legendary promise of beauty, magic, and romance.

Snow White (In Theaters)

While there was some confusion about Snow White’s love story in the live-action remake, Rachel Zegler set the record straight. The new Snow White told Variety, “The love story is very integral. A lot of people wrote that we weren’t doing [that storyline] anymore — we were always doing that; it just wasn’t what we were talking about on that day.”

A Nice Indian Boy (In Theaters)

A Nice Indian Boy dazzled at SXSW and the London Film Festival, and now the rom-com is getting a release date in the U.S. When Naveen (Karan Soni) brings his fiancé Jay (Jonathan Groff) home, they have to navigate his traditional Indian family while planning the Indian wedding of their dreams.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (In Theaters)
Release Date: May 9
Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell unite for a fantasy romance that will help kick off summer movies. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey follows two strangers and the emotional journey that connects them. The film also stars Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

And Just Like That Season 3 (Max)
Release Date: 2025
Max’s Sex and the City revival will return for a third season this year. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) will continue to navigate love and friendship in their ’50s. Will Carrie and Aidan’s relationship stumble because of their five-year wait? Will Miranda find a new love? There will be plenty of wild moments in And Just Like That Season 3, that’s for sure.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3 (Netflix)

While Ginny & Georgia is inherently a mother-daughter story, we’re highly-invested in their love lives. Will Georgia (Brianne Howey) be able to keep Paul (Scott Porter) after her arrest? Paul Mescal never lets us down in the romance department. Hamnet, based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, is a story of love and grief, focusing on the life of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes (Jessie Buckley), following the death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet.

Materialists (In Theaters)

Past Lives director Celine Song helms Materialists, a new romantic comedy starring Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans. The film, set in New York City, follows the story of a matchmaker, her ex-boyfriend, and a wealthy businessman.

Maxton Hall — The World Between Us (Prime Video)
Release Date: 2025
Maxton Hall — The World Between Us took the globe by storm in 2024. James (Damian Hardung) and Ruby’s (Harriet Herbig-Matten) love story was the quintessential enemies-to-lovers slow burn romance we yearn for in teen dramas. Shortly after the show became Prime Video’s most-watched international original series, the streamer got to work on Season 2, which will be based on Mona Kasten’s Save You.

My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 (Netflix)

The History of Sound (Netflix)

Hollywood blessed us by putting two of its most swoonworthy stars, Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor, in a movie together. The historical romantic drama chronicles the relationship between two young men who record the voices and music of their American countrymen during World War I. We’ll be seated for this one.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Prime Video)
Release Date: Summer 2025
Let the Team Conrad (Christopher Briney) vs. Team Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) debate continue. Two years after the release of Season 2, we’re finally getting Season 3 of the Jenny Han adaptation. The third season will adapt We’ll Always Have Summer and follow Belly (Lola Tung) as she looks ahead to the future and continues to figure out her feelings for both Fisher boys.

The Wedding Banquet (In Theaters)

Bowen Yang teams up with Lily Gladstone and Kelly Marie Tran for the highly-anticipated queer reimagining of The Wedding Banquet.
