All About the ‘Matlock’ Cast’s Real-Life Relationships & Dating Histories
The CBS whodunnit Matlock was revamped in 2024, but the romance both on and off screen still lingers. Just like the original series, there is more to Madeline “Matty” Matlock than meets the eye.
Played by Academy Award winner Kathy Bates, Madeline Kingston, a successfully retired septuagenarian, re-enters the workforce at a law firm under the alias Matty Matlock. Her story: In order to make up the money her husband lost gambling and support her grandson following her daughter’s death due to a car accident. The real reason she returns: To gain the firm’s trust in order to find the evidence that could have saved her daughter’s life in the midst of an opioid epidemic.
In the series, Kingston is happily married to Edwin Kingston, played by Sam Anderson, but that’s not all the love the show has to offer. The cast also includes Skye P. Marshall and Jason Ritter playing Olympia and Julian who are two partners in the midst of divorce, as well as David Del Rio as Billy Martinez and Leah Lewis as Sarah Yang, two first-year associates.

Jason Ritter
Ritter is currently married to actress Melanie Lynskey. The Hollywood couple first met in 2013 while costarring in the dramedy The Big Ask and started dating shortly after. They went on to star in two more movies together: the rom-com We’ll Never Have Paris in 2014 and The Intervention in 2016. In 2018, the pair had their first daughter, and in 2020, they privately wed on their front porch.
Skye P. Marshall
Marshall is currently married FBI: Most Wanted actor Edwin Hodge. The two tied the knot on June 29, 2024, in Los Angeles, California. According to PEOPLE, the couple invited 122 guests to the wedding, including Craig Robinson, Sophia Bush, Melanie Lynskey, Gina Rodriguez, and fellow Matlock cast members Bates and Ritter. Marshall and her husband first met after they both auditioned for (and booked) the lead roles in the CBS medical series Good Sam in 2020, turning their onscreen romance into a real-life fairy tale.
David Del Rio
Del Rio is currently married to his wife, Katherine. The two got engaged in 2016 and were married by 2018. Together, they share one daughter named Lilia. The couple started a production company together, Theater Row Productions, and have been developing a pilot and a screenplay.
Kathy Bates
Bates was married to Tony Campisi from 1991 to 1997, when the two got divorced. The couple had been together for 13 years prior to their marriage. The two first met in 1977 at a play when their friends had set them up. Bates has kept her personal life out of the public eye since her divorce in the early ’90s.
Beau Bridges
Beau Bridges has been happily married to his wife, Wendy Treece, since 1984. They have three children together: Dylan, Emily, and Ezekiel. He was previously married to Julie Landfield from 1964 to 1974. They have two kids, Casey and Jordan.
Sam Anderson
Anderson has been married to his wife, Barbara Ann Hancock, for nearly 40 years. The two first got married on August 17, 1985. Since then, the pair have had twins, one of whom is also an actor.
Leah Lewis
Lewis was previously dating musician Payson Lewis. The couple began dating in 2016 and even produced a song together in 2021. However, they announced in 2023 with their song “Back In Time” that they had broken up—though the exact timing remains unclear. It appears that Lewis is currently single
