9 TV Couples Who Slayed Halloween With Their Matching Costumes
Halloween is a great time to put your creativity to the test and when it comes to TV characters they’re rife with great ideas.
However, when it comes to couples’ costumes, there are a select few characters and shows that have really nailed the art of Halloween. Whether it’s Abbott Elementary or Parks and Recreation, there are plenty of TV couples who have slayed on the spooky holiday with pop culture-forward fits.
Below, we’re taking a look back at some of the greatest couples costumes seen on TV in recent years.
Gregory & Janine from Abbott Elementary
The fan-favorite couple Gregory (Tyler James Williams) and Janine (Quinta Brunson) from ABC’s Abbott Elementary decided to get creative with their costumes as Mr. D.N.A. and the mosquito stuck in amber from Jurassic Park in Season 4’s aptly titled installment, “Costume Contest.”
Ben & Leslie from Parks and Recreation
In Parks and Recreation‘s Season 6 episode, “Recall Vote,” Ben (Adam Scott) and Leslie (Amy Poehler) channeled their inner Princess Bride as Wesley (Cary Elwes) and Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) from the beloved ’80s classic.
Jay & Sam from Ghosts
Ghosts‘ livings Jay (Utkarsh Ambdukar) and Sam (Rose McIver) went a little unconventional with their get-ups in Season 1’s “Halloween,” dressing as Step Brothers‘ duo Brennan and Dale who were portrayed onscreen by Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
Wanda & Vision from WandaVision
This pick may be a little meta, but who doesn’t like a self-referential moment? Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision’s (Paul Bettany) costumes serving as a nod to their classic comic iterations were unforgettable in WandaVision.
Abed & Troy from Community
Sure, they may not officially be a couple, but Community‘s Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) are a package deal and proved to be as much on Halloween in the show’s lauded Season 2 installment, “Epidemiology.” Teaming up to play the alien and Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) from Alien, Troy and Abed’s creativity was unparalleled.
Nancy & Steve from Stranger Things
Stranger Things duo Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Steve (Joe Keery) may have faced a breaking point in their relationship during Season 2’s “Chapter Two: Trick or Treat, Freak,” but they were on point in the costume department. The couple took inspiration from Risky Business for their Halloween party look, dressing as Tom Cruise‘s Joel and Rebecca De Mornay‘s Lana.
Cam & Mitch from Modern Family
Sure, Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) has an affinity for Halloween on Modern Family, but we can’t help but admire her brother Mitch’s (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) costume with hubby Cam (Eric Stonestreet) in Season 8’s “Halloween 4: The Revenge of Rod Skyhook,” which saw them dress as Robin and Batman. Adding to the cuteness? Their daughter Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) dressing up as Batgirl!
Dre & Bow from Black-ish
Halloween may not scream politics, but Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) leaned into that theme with their costumes in Black-ish‘s Season 2 episode, “Jacked o’ Lantern.” The spouses dressed as former first couple, Barack and Michelle Obama, and even their family got in on the fun.
Jim & Pam from The Office
Over the years, The Office had plenty of stellar costumes featured in its Halloween episodes, but none are quite as adorable as Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam’s (Jenna Fischer) version of Popeye and Olive Oyl in Season 7’s “Costume Contest.” Adding their baby daughter Cece as Sweetpea doesn’t hurt either.
