A few things were guaranteed for those who settled in the West in the early 20th Century. The winters would be long. The work would be hard. The times were always changing. And the only thing you could truly depend on was the person beside you at the end of the day.

There’s a reason why love stories are a cornerstone of Paramount+’s Yellowstone prequel 1923. When someone found a partner for the tough life in the west, they often found a partner for life. The story of Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) is all about surviving through impossible circumstances, but it also makes the case that there isn’t much reason to fight if it isn’t for someone.

From its veteran actors to its breakout stars, the series has provided audiences with plenty of romance on the range. But what about their lives offscreen? Here are the real-life love stories of the cast of 1923.

Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford has gone by many names over the years — Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Rick Deckard (for all you Blade Runner fans), and now Jacob Dutton in 1923. But since 2010, he’s simply been known as Mr. Calista Flockhart. It was quite the Hollywood story when Ford started dating Ally McBeal herself, who is 22 years his junior, after they met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. Yet, the couple has been going strong ever since, supporting each other at public appearances and living a normal life — relatively speaking for two intensely famous people. Prior to Flockhart, Ford had two marriages under his belt: Mary Marquardt (married from 1964 to 1979), with whom he has two sons, and late screenwriter Melissa Mathison (married from 1983 to 2004), with whom he has a son and daughter. He also formally adopted Flockhart’s son, Liam, whom she had adopted before their marriage.

Helen Mirren

It was a musical ballet drama that brought Helen Mirren and her husband, Taylor Hackford, together. She starred in the director’s 1985 movie White Nights, and their love story blossomed from there. They married in the Scottish Highlands in 1997 on New Year’s Eve. He has three children from a previous marriage, but the two have never had children of their own. Previously, Mirren dated Liam Neeson in the early 1980s after the two met on the set of Excalibur.

Brandon Sklenar

He may be a dashing big game hunter as Spencer Dutton in 1923, but Brandon Sklenar lives a much quieter romantic life offscreen. For several years, he has been dating nutritionist and personal trainer Courtney Salviolo, who runs the wellness brand The Uncommon Balance. While the two seem very private about their relationship, they did step out for Sklenar’s biggest premiere yet last June during the release of It Ends With Us, even posing for pictures with costar Blake Lively and her completely unknown and totally unfamous husband Ryan Reynolds. Talking with Forbes last year, Sklenar said that despite his rising star, he prefers to be a homebody with Salviolo and their dog, Remy.

Brian Geraghty

As loyal ranch foreman Zane, Brian Geraghty is a sturdy right hand to the Dutton family, even as his own family is ripped apart at the end of Season 1. In real life, Geraghty has been linked to several notable actresses, including Krysten Ritter and Laura Ramsey. But since 2020, he has been dating actress Genesis Rodriguez, whom he likely first connected with while filming Quibi’s fleeting remake of The Fugitive. The two attended the Season 1 premiere of 1923 together in 2023.

Darren Mann

As Jack Dutton, he is one half of the newest power couple setting up a home on the Yellowstone ranch. But in real life, Darren Mann is already well into his own love story. In 2022, he married longtime girlfriend Jesi Martin in Puerto Rico.

Sebastian Roché

As the ruthless pastor of the Catholic boarding school for indigenous women in 1923, Sebastian Roché is never a welcome sight in the Paramount+ drama. Thankfully, that isn’t the case in real life. In 1998, he married The Conjuring actress Vera Farmiga after meeting on the set of the Fox series Roar. They were married for seven years before splitting up. In May 2014, he married Korean-Australian actress Alicia Hannah-Kim (Cobra Kai) at the Chateau Les Bouysses in his native France.

Jo Ellen Pellman

While she might not be around all the time, Jo Ellen Pellman’s character Jennifer has been a lifeline for Alex as she fights to reunite with Spencer. She may be the couple’s best ally. But Pellman, who got her big break starring in Ryan Murphy’s The Prom for Netflix, is in the throes of her own love story with filmmaker Brydie O’Connor. The two got engaged on November 23, 2023. In a post on her Instagram, Pellman, who identifies as queer, said, “Forever yes to my forever girl.”

Jennifer Carpenter

The most notable new addition to the 1923 cast in Season 2 is Jennifer Carpenter, who is set to play Mamie Fossett, a “highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.” Carpenter is best known for playing Deb Morgan on the original Dexter, where she met ex-husband Michael C. Hall. (Yes, you are remembering it correctly. They did play brother and sister on the show.) After their marriage ended in 2010, Carpenter married musician Seth Avett in May 2016. The two have a son together.

Augustus Prew

One of the newest additions to 1923, Augustus Prew will be playing a “wealthy, well-read young British man on a passenger ship,” likely intersecting with Alex’s furious journey to get to Montana and reunite with Spencer. In real life, Prew, who has also starred in The Morning Show and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, married actor and comedian Jeffery Self on January 13, 2018, in California.

Janet Montgomery

Janet Montgomery joins Season 2 of 1923 as Hillary, “a thoughtful woman who does not want to see injustice go unpunished.” Montgomery, who audiences will know from New Amsterdam, married Joe Fox in November 2019, a year after giving birth to their daughter.

Julia Schlaepfer

Fans of 1923 immediately fell in love with Spencer and Alex’s globe-trotting story, and they wanted the love affair to continue offscreen between Julia Schlaepfer and Sklenar. He is happily taken (see above), and Schlaepfer has been very quiet about who she is or is not dating. For now, fans will just have to enjoy Alex and Spencer’s undying love for each other.

Aminah Nieves

As Teonna, Aminah Nieves was put through the wringer in the first season of 1923. But in real life, she is thriving. While she has not been open about any relationships since breaking out on the show, she has not been shy about celebrating her success and her identity in the spotlight. In April 2023, she posted on Instagram, “Big big moment for this queer brown girl,” after attending the GLAAD Media Awards.

Jerome Flynn

As Banner Creighton, Jerome Flynn has set in motion a tragic chain of events for the Duttons in 1923. But Flynn has a little experience being a unpredictable presence, having played Bronn across the entire run of Game of Thrones. It was during that time that he had his most notable and rumor-driven relationship with costar Lena Headey. However, the pair did not end on good terms, and it was reported they even refused to share scenes together after breaking up.

Michelle Randolph

A new staple of Taylor Sheridan‘s pantheon of series (having also starred in Landman), Michelle Randolph is a force in 1923 as Elizabeth, Jack’s devoted wife. In real life, she dated fellow actor Gregg Sulkin starting in 2017 but has since stayed quiet on who she might be with these days.

Timothy Dalton

James Bond had his suave moves with the ladies, and so did the fourth actor to take his martini shaken, not stirred. Timothy Dalton, who plays 1923’s villainous Donald Whitfield, has had a number of famous girlfriends and partners over the years, from his well-known relationship with Vanessa Redgrave to shorter connections with actresses like Stefanie Powers and Whoopi Goldberg. In the 1990s, he began dating musician Oksana Grigorieva, with whom he has a son. The pair have since broken up. Ever since, Dalton has kept his relationships closer to the vest, with paparazzi catching him with women over the years but nothing concrete about who he is spending time with these days.

Isabel May

She was the breakout star of 1883 as Elsa Dutton, and she continues to narrate the saga through 1923. In real life, Isabel May is remarkably private about her relationships. While rumors have circulated, nothing has ever been confirmed. In 2022, she even told The Wrap she is not a romantic but would like to someday have a relationship similar to her onscreen parents and country music legends Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
