How did Marissa and Edward meet?

Marissa met Edward on a girls’ trip, which is a surprisingly popular way to meet the love of your life on 90 Day Fiancé. During the Season 12 premiere, Marissa told her colleagues that it was about three years between when she first met Edward and when they reconnected. During another trip to Punta Cana, Marissa texted Edward, who had lost her number and was trying to track her down. “Ever since that date, we were pretty much in a solid relationship.” After two years of long-distance, they made their relationship official.

Do Marissa’s parents approve of Edward?

One of the biggest concerns in Marissa and Edward’s relationship is whether Marissa’s parents will approve of her groom-to-be. Marissa’s ex-husband has already warned Edward that her parents are hard to impress, which caused him to feel like an outsider while they were together. Now, Marissa’s parents are entering the picture with a visit during Episode 7. At the beginning of the episode, Marissa shared, “I’m super nervous. My parents’ approval means the world to me.”

Once her parents arrived, Marissa’s mother, JoAnn, told Edward that “it’s not going to be smooth sailing all the way.” She explained, “When Marissa came to me with her situation… I was not on board at all.” She then cited the age and culture difference. In the end, JoAnn warned, “Talk is cheap. We’ll see what you’re made of.”
