How Many Kids Does Luke Bryan Have? A Guide to His Family
In just a few weeks, Luke Bryan will return to the judges’ table for Season 24 of American Idol alongside Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie. However, during his recent holiday downtime, he’s been logging in some time with his family.
Bryan is the ultimate family man and has built a life with his wife, Caroline Boyer, whom he married in December 2006. Scroll down for everything to know about their children, including the family they took in after a tragedy left them parentless.
How many kids does Luke Bryan have?
Bryan has two biological children. Their first son, Thomas “Bo” Boyer Bryan, was born on March 18, 2008, followed by another son, Tatum “Tate” Christopher Bryan, on August 11, 2010.
Bo’s legal first name, Thomas, is after Bryan’s dad, while Tate’s middle name, Christopher, is after Bryan’s brother, who died in a car accident in 1996 at the age of 26.

In addition to Tate and Bo, Bryan and Boyer also raised their nieces, Jordan Cheshire and Kris Cheshire, and nephew, Tilden “Til” Cheshire. They took the children in in 2014. Jordan and Kris were older teenagers at the time, but Til was just 13 and began living with the Bryan family full-time.
Of the decision to take in Til, Boyer told Robin Roberts, “We never thought twice about it. You know, it was never something that he and I had to sit down and talk about. ‘Should we take this on?’ We just did that.”
Why did Luke Bryan adopt his nieces and nephew?
Bryan and Boyer adopted the Cheshire children following the deaths of their parents. Their mother, Kelly (Bryan’s sister), died in 2007 when she was just 39 years old. Seven years later, their father, Lee, also died.
Til has formed an extremely close relationship with Bryan’s children. “My oldest, Bo, and Til, I mean, it’s all brotherly,” Bryan shared. “It looks and smells just like two brothers complaining and fighting and wrestling and giving each other a hard time.”

However, Bryan said that Tate has formed a particularly “special bond” with his cousin. “I can’t imagine a household where Til would have never grown up in it,” Bryan confirmed. “And, I mean, it’s just been a blessing and a silver lining to have him and to watch the girls go through life and become mothers.”
Jordan shares two children with her husband, Clint Eudy, whom she married in September 2021 (Bryan walked her down the aisle at the wedding). Meanwhile, Kris welcomed son Tilden “Ryles” with Cameron Davis in December 2024. She and Cameron got engaged in November 2025.
How did Luke Bryan’s sister and brother-in-law die?
Both deaths were unexpected. Kelly’s death from undetermined causes is incredibly rare, Bryan explained on Anderson Cooper‘s podcast in 2025.
“There is a very, very small percentage of people that die for no reason in the world,” he shared. “It’s called Sudden Death Syndrome, and that’s essentially what they described my sister’s death as. She was in her home doing her laundry, and it was … Anderson, it was like somebody just turned the switch off on her, and it was just tragic beyond words.”
Kelly’s autopsy showed a “pretty severe orbital bone injury,” which is likely attributed to her falling and getting knocked unconscious when she hit the floor. The mom of three was home alone with Til, who was just a child, when she died.
Lee died from a heart attack. He was 46 years old.
