Will Danny & Xander Ever Reunite? ‘Pulse’ Stars Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell Talk Season 2 (VIDEO)

Danny (Willa Fitzgerald) and Xander’s (Colin Woodell) romance was on life support for much of Pulse Season 1. After hiding their relationship from everyone at work for months, Xander wanted to go public after getting offered an attending position.

Danny knew this would ruin her chances of becoming chief resident because everyone would view her promotion as favoritism rather than merit-based. Following a devastating fight, Danny filed an HR complaint against Xander, which only fueled the rumor that he was let go from his last hospital due to sexual harassment. (The truth: His parents covered up that Xander accidentally killed a young patient.)

Both Danny and Xander acknowledged that the love between them is still beating, but is it enough? Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell spoke with Swooon about what’s next for Danny and Xander now that the dust has settled.

“I think there’s a lot of opportunities for interesting navigation of what the situation at work is going to be,” Fitzgerald said. “He’s, once again, going to be her real boss in this next generation, and I think there’s always interesting things that bubble up when you see someone who you’ve had a very intense thing with. I think that that’s a highly charged and loaded experience.”

Woodell knows that it’s going to be an adjustment for Xander in this new chapter. “I feel that Xander still loves Danny, and I think he’s going to have to navigate working through that and respecting in a way that he hadn’t yet. I think it’s going to be a good challenge,” the actor noted.

The real question going into a potential second season is: Will Danny and Xander ever get back together? The final moments of the Season 1 finale felt like a rebirth for Danny as she floated in the water. “I think that at this point, to me, it feels like Danny is for the first time sort of unencumbered by something that’s been very heavy for a long time,” Fitzgerald said. “It does really feel like a release for her, like a releasing of everything that’s been hanging around.”

Woodell admitted that Xander’s still down bad for Danny, and he has hope for a reunion. “I think he did the right thing, or in his mind, he’s doing the right thing of going to the hospital review board, making a statement to not only himself, but really to Danny, to show that he’s going to take initiative and accountability. I think there’s still a lot to work through on his end because he still really cares about her and loves her,” he told Swooon.
