Did ‘The Rookie’ Hint at Chenford’s Endgame With Those Truth Serum Reveals?
Look, Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) will inevitably get back together. And based on what happened in the April 22 episode of The Rookie, their reunion might be happening sooner rather than later. However, could we be headed for an even bigger Chenford moment?
During the episode, Tim and Lucy’s truth serum ordeal led to some interesting confessions, including that breaking up with Lucy was the “worst thing” Tim could do to himself. It turns out that Lucy has forgiven Tim for breaking up with her. Afterward, as they’re discussing what happened with a documentary interviewer, played by series creator Alexi Hawley, he mentioned that Chenford discussed “possible baby names” while experiencing the effects of the truth serum.
Is a Chenford baby on the horizon? The ABC show has already been renewed for Season 8, and a Chenford child would certainly be a fun twist. Plus, why even mention baby names at all if it wasn’t foreshadowing their future? They did have that steamy Valentine’s Day hookup earlier in the season!
“Can someone set up a crowd funding to get them to release the list of baby names?” one fan asked on X. Another wrote, “It’s implied then that the baby names conversation came after the forgiveness announcement that we saw. Which means they’ve started planning their future together.”
Hawley told TV Insider that the show has been “heading” toward a Chenford reunion all season long. “I do think her moment of realizing that she has now fully forgiven him is sort of the most important moment that happens there, because along the way, even though they’ve ended up in bed together a few times, even though it’s felt like it’s returned to normal, I think underneath it all, he still really broke her heart and it has taken this long for her to finally forgive him,” he explained. “And I just thought to have that realization have happened when they’re both under the influence of sodium pentothal and make it more of a discovery for her as well was super fun.”
