‘General Hospital’ Star Maurice Benard Reveals Surprising Family News
Just like Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital, Maurice Benard is a dedicated family man. The longtime GH actor has been married to his wife, Paula Smith Benard, for over 30 years, and they share four children: Cailey, Cassidy, Joshua, and Heather.
Through his podcast and Instagram page, Benard has always been an open book when it comes to his personal life. The Daytime Emmy winner has shared exciting news about his daughter, Cassidy.
There’s a Benard wedding on the way! The soap vet announced that his daughter got engaged to her boyfriend, Anthony Cammarata, during a recent trip to Japan. “My baby girl Cassidy is getting married to a great man @anthony_cammarata They went to Japan and he surprised her in Disneyland it truly is a fairytale,” Benard wrote on Instagram.
Benard’s General Hospital costar Finola Hughes sent her love to the family in the comments section. “Congratulations Mo,” she wrote. The proud father sweetly responded with heart emojis to fans sending their congratulations on Instagram.

Cammarata showed off his fiancée’s stunning engagement ring on his personal Instagram page. Her ring features a large, square-cut diamond with a halo of diamonds surrounding it. “Here’s to forever with the love of my life,” he wrote.
The 62-year-old soap star notably officiated his eldest daughter Cailey’s wedding to her husband in June 2020. The couple had a Zoom wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Never in my life did I think I would marry anyone,Especially not one of my daughters. Marrying Cailey and Carlos was an honor and a privilege not to mention very very sweet,” Benard wrote at the time.
As for Cassidy’s wedding, the actor has shared any details just yet. If they need an officiant, the father of the bride is right there to help out!
