‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Drops Kastle Breadcrumbs — How It Could Happen in Season 2

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, Episode 9, “Straight to Hell.”]
Daredevil: Born Again‘s Season 1 run might be over, but it certainly delivered on the Kastle fandom front and laid out plenty of breadcrumbs for fans to savor until Season 2 rolls around.
For those less acquainted with the popular Daredevil ship, the Kastle pairing includes Jon Bernthal‘s Frank Castle and Deborah Ann Woll‘s Karen Page. After many long years, the duo finally reunited onscreen in Born Again‘s Season 1 finale, as they helped Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) escape harm amid Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) powerful swipes.
Fans of Kastle were gifted with plenty to consider, particularly when we discover that Karen called Frank to help protect Matt until she could arrive and help them. After they managed to escape an attack from Fisk’s men at Matt’s apartment, the trio set out to fix up Frank and Matt’s wounds.

While Frank was able to work on himself, Karen helped sew up Matt, and when he asked how bad he looked, she made a comment about how he’s “been prettier.” During that moment, Matt’s head shifted in Frank’s direction, hinting he heard something. Later, when Matt and Karen separated from Frank and went through old files to uncover that their friend Foggy (Elden Henson) had gotten himself caught up in Vanessa Fisk’s illegal dealings, making him an ultimate target, the old friends had an interesting chat.
First, Matt asked Karen, “You talk to Frank a lot?” The question led her to suggest that Matt was jealous.
“You know, back at his place, I heard your heartbeats,” Matt responded.
“God, that is really not fair,” Karen answered, before asking, “You heard his, too?” This definitely hinted that Karen was intrigued by Frank’s feelings for her after they had a more tense interaction at his place in the prior scene.
When Matt mentioned that he did hear Frank’s heartbeat, Karen suggested, “It’s just adrenaline, I’m sure.” Adrenaline our asses. If this doesn’t spell out a possible Kastle storyline in Season 2, we don’t know what would.
While Frank ended up closing out the season in a cage, a mid-credit scene teased his possible escape. Whether that spells out his return for Daredevil: Born Again‘s second season or the supposed Punisher special remains to be seen, but we do know Karen is definitely teaming up with Matt to deliver justice for their old friend Foggy.
Stay tuned for any Kastle updates, and let us know what you think of the breadcrumbs delivered in Daredevil: Born Again‘s Season 1 finale.
