HGTV Stars Chelsea & Cole DeBoer’s Family: All About Their Marriage, Kids & More
Chelsea DeBoer and Cole DeBoer are one of the newer HGTV couples, having joined the network in 2023 with their show Down Home Fab. The renovation series has wrapped filming on Season 3, and Chelsea and Cole are also branching out by appearing on Season 6 of Rock the Block.
When they’re not busy running their store or renovating houses, Chelsea and Cole plenty to keep them busy at home. Scroll down for everything to know about their relationship and family.
How did Chelsea and Cole DeBoer meet?
Before they were HGTV stars, Chelsea and Cole had reality television roots with MTV. She starred in Season 2 of 16 & Pregnant in 2010 and was then cast in its spinoff, Teen Mom 2. She left the show in 2020 amid Season 10.
However, during her time on Teen Mom 2, Chelsea met Cole. Their relationship was documented on the show after they met at a gas station in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
‘I was getting gas one day, and [Chelsea] came pulling up and got gas at the pump next to me, and we just kept staring back and forth the whole time,” Cole recalled in a 2023 interview with HGTV. “I remember being like, ‘Wow, she’s really cute.’” Chelsea told a similar story on Teen Mom 2 after the 2014 meet-cute.

The two didn’t speak during their initial gas station encounter but realized that they lived in the same direction because they noticed each other on the road driving home. A few days later, Cole found Chelsea on Facebook and messaged her. The rest is history!
In a 2015 interview with Us Weekly, Chelsea explained, “I went home to my friend and I was like, ‘I just saw the guy I’m going to marry at the gas station, but we didn’t talk.’ And a few days later, he contacted me on social media and was like, ‘Hi. I got gas next to you the other day.’ And I was like, ‘Thank you, Jesus.'”
When did Cole and Chelsea get married?
Cole popped the question in November 2015 after asking Chelsea’s daughter, Aubree, who was seven years old at the time, permission. They got married in October 2016. The ceremony was an intimate affair, with their parents, siblings, and Aubree in attendance.
In October 2017, they had a larger wedding reception in honor of their one-year anniversary.
Do Chelsea and Cole have kids?
Chelsea shares her eldest daughter, Aubree, with ex Adam Lind. Cole is a father figure to the now-teenager, but he and Chelsea also have three children of their own.
Their only son, Watson, was born in January 2017. Chelsea was pregnant with him when she and Cole tied the knot. In August 2018, Chelsea gave birth to her and Cole’s daughter, Layne, who was born on her mom’s birthday. They completed their family with another daughter, Walker, in January 2021.
Does Chelsea have full custody of Aubree?
Yes, Chelsea has full custody of Aubree after years of ups and downs with Lind. He was even arrested in 2022 for violating a court order set in place for child support. However, Chelsea has a cordial relationship with her ex these days.
“Our relationship, it’s fine,” she told The Ashley in 2023. “We’re not best friends, but we’re not enemies at all. If I were to see him, there would be no bad feelings at all.” Around the same time, she confirmed to Us Weekly, “There’s no bad vibes and it’s just a very open relationship. There’s no bad feelings. We see him sometimes and it’s totally fine.”
Although Cole never officially adopted Aubree, Chelsea won a legal battle to change her daughter’s last name to Lind-DeBoer in 2018.
