‘The White Lotus’ Star Sarah Catherine Hook Compares Cut Piper-Zion Scenes to a Rom-Com

By now, fans of The White Lotus Season 3 have likely heard about the Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) sex scene that was cut from the finale episode, “Amor Fati,” but had it been filmed for TV?
Hook is opening up to us about the several scenes that didn’t make it to the screen in the jaw-dropping episode, revealing that in “the one that got cut,” Piper loses her virginity, but according to the star, she shared at least seven scenes with Duvernay in the show. “I totally understand why they needed to do that because it would have been like a rom-com mixed with this Greek tragedy,” Hook says of Mike White‘s decision to exclude the storyline.
“But I will be demanding a short film one day. I need to see the short film of Piper losing her virginity,” Hook adds. Regarding the storyline and famed cut sex scene, Hook confirms, “We filmed all of it… It exists,” noting, “It was like seven scenes and the finale was an hour and a half. So it just wouldn’t have worked.”

“At first I was really, really upset,” Hook admits. “That’s everything you worked in Thailand for, for six months, and for it to be taken away like that was really hard, but I understood.” The juxtaposition of a fling with Piper’s dad, Timothy, attempting and failing to murder his whole family with pina coladas would have been a big tone shift for one episode to handle.
“It was such a different tone from her dad trying to poison the whole family and then it just jumps to her like getting crazy and hooking up with Zion… it just wouldn’t [work],” Hook says.
Still, she maintains hope that she’ll get to see the cut scenes one day. And who knows? Maybe now that Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) and her son Zion are five million dollars richer, who is to say there’s not a chance their paths might cross at a different White Lotus in the future? We’ve seen crazier things happen at the titular resort.
