Nearly two years after Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick‘s split, the former Bachelorette lead is reflecting on a part of their relationship that made her feel “used.”

Bristowe opened up about the situation on the Thursday, April 3, episode of her Off the Vine podcast and claimed that Tartick “knew” how she felt about the financial aspects of their relationship before the breakup.

“Although my house was paid off, I would have to go to him on the first of every month being like, ‘Can you split bills?’ That makes me feel cheap,” she shared. “We had both very similar income. I felt like he was, like, riding a wave.”

She also accused the Trading Secrets podcast host of using the relationship for the status it gave him. “I’m not saying he didn’t love me because I think he did, also unsure, but it felt like riding coattails, riding a wave [to get to] where he wanted to get to.”

Bristowe has previously expressed frustration about how much Tartick wanted to display their relationship on social media, which she reiterated in her latest episode. “It felt like everything was for Instagram and numbers. I did not want to be in it,” she added. “What I want out of life is not what he wants.”

She also said, “This will probably be the last time I will ever speak on him ever again because I didn’t for so long and that felt really good because I had to let it go.”

Bristowe got engaged to Shawn Booth on her season of The Bachelorette, but they split three years later in the fall of 2018. Toward the end of the relationship, she met Tartick when he was a guest on her podcast following his own stint as a contestant on The Bachelorette. After Tartick returned to the podcast in January 2019, he and Bristowe began dating. They got engaged in 2021, but called it off two years later.
