‘Carrie Diaries’ Star AnnaSophia Robb Reflects on the Ending of ‘Sex and the City’ Prequel
Can you believe that The Carrie Diaries finale ended over a decade ago? Wrapping up with just two seasons to its name, the Sex and the City prequel on The CW was short but sweet. With the show now streaming on Tubi, The Carrie Diaries will get a whole new fanbase!
The dedicated viewers are still mourning what could’ve been, but lead AnnaSophia Robb only has fond memories when looking back at the series. While discussing her latest show, Grosse Pointe Garden Society, Robb reminisced with Swooon about her days as the young Carrie Bradshaw.
“I have so much love for The Carrie Diaries and that cast. We had such a special, wonderful cast,” the 31-year-old confessed. “I actually saw Stefania Owen, who plays my little sister, Dorit, last night. We are still super, super close, and Ellen Wong, who plays Mouse, we’re dear, dear friends.”
Not even 21 when the finale aired on January 31, 2014, Robb admitted that it was “a really special time” for her. She continued, “Transitioning from high school and moving to New York, they became my family, and I had so much fun, we did two fabulous seasons, and then I went to college.”
Even though she was sad that the series wasn’t renewed for a third season, Robb was still able to have a positive outlook. “It would’ve been fun to see where the show went, but I also, for personal reasons, was like, ‘And now I get to go to school. This is great.'”
Her connection to The Carrie Diaries didn’t end there. “Eric Daman was the costume designer on The Carrie Diaries, and now he’s the costume designer on Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” This is a full circle moment Carrie Bradshaw would love.
Finally, when asked if she was Team Aidan, Big, or Sebastian, she was quick to pick her onscreen love interest, Sebastian (Austin Butler).
