‘Golden Bachelorette’s Chock Chapple & Joan Vassos Reveal Secret to Making Romance Work

It’s been four months since Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple went public with their relationship following the Season 1 finale of The Golden Bachelorette. On Monday, March 24, they returned to the location of their first public outing to attend the live finale portion of The Bachelor Season 29.
In honor of being back in such a special place, Vassos and Chapple hopped on social media to film a video update for their fans. They revealed how things are going in their long-distance relationship and how they’ve been able to make it work.
“Somebody asked me to today at lunch, they go, ‘What’s your secret?’ and I go, ‘Just… Joan’s in charge,'” Chapple laughed. “I kind of run my business and after that…”

Vassos jumped in and added, “You’re in charge of your stuff, and I’m in charge of some other stuff. But that’s great. It’s been an amazing four months, it really has.”
The happy couple also had a message for the critics who were wondering if they had split up due to lack of recent social media activity together. “We just wanted to check in,” Vassos explained. “People always doubt if we’re still together, and here we are. We’re still together, and we’re better than ever.”
Chapple also gave an update about what he and his bride-to-be have been up to. “What’s going on now is we’re traveling a lot,” he shared. “Every other weekend … at least every other weekend … we see each other. Joan will be back in Wichita, [Kansas], in two weeks. If we don’t post, people will go, ‘What’s going on?’ We don’t have to post every day. But we just wanted to let you guys know everything’s going great.”
With Chapple living in Kansas and Vassos in Maryland, the ABC stars have been maintaining a long-distance relationship since their engagement. They’ve made a point to see each other with visits to each other’s homes and mutual travels together.
“We both were saying it’s kind of hard to believe because it feels like it’s been way more than four months, but in a really good way,” Vassos admitted. “We’ve been super busy. We spent a lot of time meeting each other’s family and friends and getting to know them.”
Chapple added, “The four months after the finale, people came up to us all the time and they go, ‘You guys look like such a good couple.’ We do feel like we’ve been married two to five years because we know each other.”
