Who conquered the pop world in 2024? Obviously, Chappell Roan. The 27-year-old has been chipping away at her craft for almost a decade. With her newfound superstardom, everyone is naturally curious about her romantic life.
The Gen Z star is well aware of the obsessive reality of fame, and Roan has established clear boundaries to protect her privacy. Roan does occasionally give away a morsel of information about her personal life. Case in point: her in-depth interview with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy. The singer gave a major update about her current relationship status.

Roan is not single. The “Pink Pony Club” singer opened up about her partner to Cooper. The Unwell founder asked, “Wait, are you single?” Roan promptly replied, “No.” This completely baffled Cooper, who didn’t immediately believe the artist. She excitedly expressed, “You’re f**king lying. No, you’re lying. You’re f**king lying to me right now. Chappell? How long?”
Call Her Daddy
The Grammy winner admitted that she’s been in a committed relationship for six months but did not reveal her partner’s name. Jokingly referencing Roan’s song, Cooper followed up with, “Is it casual?”
Roan confessed, “No. It’s serious. It’s serious. I’m very in love,” However, the 27-year-old stated that she is very “pro-single,” adding, “Everyone should be single. I’m serious. Be single. Stop dating. Be single. Have a great time alone. Find out for yourself if you can a hundred percent be okay alone before you date.” She continued, “I had a great time when I was single, and I know that I’ll be okay and now I have an awesome time that I’m with someone.”
After agreeing with the hitmaker’s words about being single before you can enter a serious relationship, Cooper was not done asking Roan about her current partner. The singer eventually revealed that she met her significant other “through a friend, but it wasn’t a setup.” She even gave away that she was the one who made the first move.
Still wanting to know more, Cooper inquired, “Can you explain to me how you’d start the dating process with someone? Are you having to have them come over to your house? Are you going in public?”
Not being able to give the full answer, Roan said, “I’m dating the same person that I was dating before I got, like blew up, so I’m not sure how I would date now. I think it would actually be a nightmare. I think I would be so single right now because you’re terrified of their intentions. I’m scared. I’m scared. I don’t trust anyone. I just think in my head, I’m like, any new person that I’m texting, I’m like, ‘I’m assuming they will screenshot this and send it to someone else.'”
What has Chappell Roan said about her sexuality?
Taking lesbian pop to new heights, Roan’s stage presence is unapologetically queer. Inspired by drag culture and often singing about her experiences as a gay woman, Roan admitted that she wrote songs about her evolving sexuality before she had ever even kissed a girl.
Roan’s success within pop culture has made compulsory heterosexuality (the idea that people are pressured to be heterosexual) a widely understood term, allowing many of her fans come to terms with their own feelings toward it. In an interview with Polyester, she shared, “It’s really liberating for me, because I have such a difficult time — as Kayleigh — with sex. I have a hard time watching sex scenes or flirting with people! I get really uncomfortable hyper-sexual things. But as the drag queen that I play, Chappell, she’s not like that. She is very confident and comfortable singing about those things. In every aspect of performing, I feel like if it’s not bold, who cares? I don’t want to hear it. I guess the thing with raunchiness is being specific with your audience.”
Identifying as a lesbian woman, people have tried to dispute that label, but Roan is known to often use it to describe herself. During her appearance on Call Her Daddy, she discussed the dire reality of what this means in the growing conservative culture we’re living in. “Part of me is like, will it even be legal to marry my wife one day? I don’t know,” she said.
