‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ Stars Open Up About Their Exes & What Past Relationships Taught Them

The stars of Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 have learned some lessons from their past relationships. As they embark on their journey to find a wife, the hunky farmers are looking back at their exes.
John Sansone, Matt Warren, Colton Hendricks, and Jay Woods opened up to Swooon about what previous romances helped them realize they didn’t want to repeat going forward.
“For me, a lot of it comes down to respect,” Matt admitted. “I think someone that respects you automatically will look out for you and for your relationship. I’ve dated girls in the past where they just didn’t really have a level of respect for me and for our relationship, and it just makes the whole thing difficult, and it doesn’t feel good. I just try to stay away from that kind of stuff.”
Meanwhile, John learned how to cut the cord when the relationship has run its course. “When you know that it’s over, and it’s not going to last, just get out of it,” he said. “Don’t stick around. Don’t try and change the person. If you feel it in your gut, get out.”
Jay agreed, adding, “I think that’s just a big communication piece. Being able to communicate and say what you like, what you don’t like, don’t just let it fester over and build into something and boil over into something else.”
Colton has an even more complicated relationship history than the other guys, as he was previously married to a woman whom he shares a son with. He said his past relationships taught him that he wants to find someone who “matches up” with his lifestyle.
“I’m really interested in horses and cattle and things like that,” Colton explained. “It’s like, most of the time you can make relationships work if you guys are from different industries if it’s not horses and cattle. But if you are with somebody that is in the horse and cattle industry, you have got to be married someone that is in the horse and cattle industry because nobody really understands it like the person that’s in it, and it just makes it a lot easier.”
The guys’ journey on Farmer Wants a Wife began with the March 20 premiere where they each met eight women who are hoping to pursue a relationship with them and brought five home with them.
