Everyone loves revivals these days, and the 2000s rom-com John Tucker Must Die may very well be the latest movie to get a sequel.

“I would definitely be open to it. There certainly seems to be an appetite for a sequel,” Jesse Metcalfe, who played the titular John Tucker, told Swooon. “There is a script. I have read that script. It’s over at 20th Century Fox. It’s not green lit just yet.”

But after the buzz that the announcement of something being in development earlier last year created, “it really seems like there’s an appetite for it, and we’ll see. Hopefully it’ll get made,” he continues.

John Tucker Must Die also starred Brittany Snow, Ashanti, Sophia Bush, and Arielle Kebbel. In the 2006 film, three young women (Ashanti, Bush, and Kebbel) band together for revenge after discovering they are all dating the same guy (Metcalfe’s John Tucker). They enlist Snow to help them with their revenge scheme and make him fall for her. She ends up with Tucker’s brother, Scott (Penn Badgley).

When Swooon asked Metcalfe the appeal of possibly returning to that role, he shared, “I think it’s interesting to see a character like that, to see how a character like John Tucker has grown and evolved. I don’t necessarily think a movie like John Tucker Must Die would get made in the current social climate. And the script that I have read addresses that and does so in a really interesting way.”

Metcalfe can next be seen guest starring on Law & Order in the March 20 episode. “I’ve always been a fan of the show and I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Law & Order universe and to get an opportunity to be a part of an episode as timely and ripped from the headlines as this one was a fantastic opportunity and I really feel like this is one of the best, if not the best, ensemble cast on television. So to get to work with Reid Scott and Maura Tierney was thrilling for me,” he told TV Insider.
