HGTV’s Ben & Erin Napier Reveal ‘Biggest Problem’ in Their Marriage

Ben and Erin Napier know how to make a marriage work. The HGTV stars don’t just spend a lot of time together at home, the two also host their show Home Town Takeover as a duo.
They’ve been by each other’s side for over two decades, making them uniquely qualified to share their advice about keeping the romance and passion alive. However, even the strongest couples have their issues. Ben and Erin opened up about one major “problem” in their marriage.
When asked what caused conflict at home, Ben told Us Weekly that their phones were the “biggest problem ever.” He called them “addictive” and added, “One of us will get sucked into looking at something, and the other one is like, ‘Hey, I need you to pay attention right now.'”
Erin said phones were the “worst” distraction and “attention stealers.” She pointed out, “I bet phones take away from marriages more than anything else.”
While she trusts her husband “110 percent,” Erin admitted that she got jealous when she saw Ben’s DMs with a woman “who looks too much like a supermodel to be messaging Ben.” The messages were just about working together. Erin stressed she doesn’t have “trust issues” with her husband because they’re “together all the time.”
The “key element” to their happy marriage is communication, and they also help each other out in various ways. Erin takes the garbage out because Ben “has so much to manage.” She also preps Ben’s coffee for the next day. “I don’t drink coffee, but he does, so I get the coffee maker ready the night before,” she explained.
On his end, Ben leaves out love notes for Erin every single day. “They don’t say anything profound,” Erin said, “[just] things like, ‘I’m so thankful that it’s you and me, and that this is what our life is,’ or, “‘Thank you for being mine, and I’ll always do my best for you every day.'” He isn’t the only one in their household to do it now. Ben giddily reported that oldest daughter Helen now writes notes to him.
Besides the notes, Ben also oversees the gardens on the family’s small farm.”That’s a romantic gesture to me,” Erin gushed. “He makes sure we have something fresh I can [harvest] to cook.”
