‘When Calls the Heart’: Kevin McGarry Teases Massive Changes for Nathan & Elizabeth in Season 12 Finale
Another season in Hope Valley is coming to a close. The When Calls the Heart Season 12 finale airs March 23, and Hearties need to prepare for the final chapter of this season — but also hope for the future.
Kevin McGarry revealed that Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Nathan’s relationship is headed into uncharted territory in the Season 12 finale. McGarry teased the ending of Season 12 and where it could lead in a possible Season 13.
“Again, with the changing of one’s reality, the potential of Season 13 could be rife with new story for Elizabeth and Nathan and Little Jack [Hyland Goodrich] and Allie [Jaeda Lily Miller],” the actor revealed on The Official Hearties Aftershow.
He added, “I think if we’re lucky enough to get a Season 13, Nathan and Elizabeth will be in a spot that they’ve never been before, I think, anyways.” McGarry said that Elizabeth and Nathan will be left in “a realm of new territory” at the end of season. “After you watch the last episode, you’ll be able to see what could happen for Nathan, Elizabeth, Little Jack, and Allie,” he noted.
McGarry also discussed another Season 13 hope: Nathan’s family. “Erin and I have talked about never really seeing Nathan’s mom and bringing her in and who would possibly play that part,” McGarry said. When asked who he’d like to see take on Mountie Nathan’s mom, he brought up Sally Field‘s name.
The couple has faced the unexpected news of Little Jack’s diabetes diagnosis head on in Season 12. When asked how Little Jack’s diagnosis changes Elizabeth and Nathan’s relationship moving forward, McGarry responded, “It will change the course of those characters’ reality.”
The Season 12 finale will feature Elizabeth and Nathan planning for a “happy summer together” as graduation approaches. However, it sounds like more change is just around the corner for these two.
