Justin Bruening Reveals If He’ll Have Soap Reunion With Wife Alexa Havins on ‘GH’

Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins fell in love on the set of All My Children, but is a soap opera reunion in their future? The actress joined General Hospital as the new Lulu Spencer in 2024, and Swooon caught up with Bruening about whether he’d consider making an appearance in Port Charles.
It’s not only his wife who’s over on the General Hospital set, either. Michael E. Knight, who played Bruening’s onscreen father, Tad, on AMC, plays Martin Grey GH as well. So, would Bruening consider joining them?
“I’ll never say never,” he teased. “Man, I got a lot of friends on that. Alexa was kind enough to take me to her holiday party. I was her plus one. I was like, ‘Aw, that’s sweet of you. I’ll go.’ I just went to see Michael Knight. He was there and right away was like, ‘How do we make this work this season? You could be my…'”
Unfortunately, Bruening wasn’t able to immediately jump at the chance to work with his wife and former costar again. “I was like, ‘Buddy, I’m kind of busy right now,'” the actor continued. “He’s like, ‘Oh, that’s right, you’ve got your show. Darn it. Well, I’ll figure it out. I’m gonna keep on it.’ He’s already plotting ways.”
Bruening reiterated that he’d “never say never” to making an appearance on General Hospital, adding, “It’d be fun. I love working with my wife, so it’d be fun to pop on. We had a joke that I want to start showing up in just the background as just a random barista.”
The former soap star married Havins in 2005 after proposing on the set of All My Children. They have since welcomed four children together.
Since 2020, Bruening has been busy with his role as Cal Maddox on Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias, although the show hasn’t been renewed for Season 5 yet.
