Joanna Gaines Reveals Major Change in Her Marriage to Chip

From countless business ventures to their farm life, HGTV supercouple Chip and Joanna Gaines just can’t get enough of spending time with each other. The married duo tied the knot in May 2003 and have faced whatever’s been thrown their way.
With more than 20 years of marriage under their belt, Chip and Joanna are still finding ways to push themselves. Joanna recently opened up about a big change she and Chip have made in their marriage.
Exploring new hobbies is important to the couple. Besides working hard on their Magnolia Home empire, the twosome has put that same effort in the gym. A year after deciding to work out together, Joanna revealed how their joint gym journey is going.
“There’s really no shortage of us doing things together,” she told Us Weekly. “But what I’ve loved most about this new rhythm of working out together is that it’s new and different for us, but it’s also been interesting to see that the way we show up for each other in our little garage gym is the same way we always have at the office, or with a new project.”
The 46-year-old admitted that she has “never felt stronger,” and hitting the gym together has been enjoyable for them both. “Getting to encourage each other to show up well, to work hard, and do our best is how we’ve always worked together in business,” she continued. “So it’s been fun to see how our relationship is just consistent, no matter what we’re tackling.”
Joanna admitted she and Chip have more time to dedicate to themselves as their kids get order and more independent. They have five children: Drake, 20, Ella, 18, Duke, 16, Emmie, 15, and Crew, 6.
“That’s part of where working out came in,” the Fixer Upper star divulged. But that’s not the only hobby they have in common. “And we also just started taking dancing lessons, which is another fun and hilarious thing for us to do,” she added. “Really, just continuing to find new ways to partner up is what keeps us strong, so we’re having fun with what that looks like this season.”
Joanna emphasized that throughout their new venture, they have also become more in touch with each other. “For us, we’ve learned that encouragement really goes a lot farther than accountability, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with working out or I don’t think either of us would have made it very far.” This throughline doesn’t just end in the gym. “And it’s the same at work, just encouraging each other to keep moving forward, keep dreaming, keep pushing ourselves,” she shared.
