Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski‘s relationship extends far beyond the news desk. The journalists cohost Morning Joe together but are also in a romantic relationship.

The colleagues worked together for years before they took their professional relationship into the real world, though. The two kept their romance very private at first, so it’s unclear exactly when they started dating, but speculation that there was something going on between them was amplified in 2016.

However, it wasn’t until the following year that Scarborough and Brzezinski confirmed their relationship. Scroll down for everything we know about the couple.

How did Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski meet?

The couple met as employees at MSNBC. Scarborough joined the network in 2003 when he began hosting his nightly primetime show Scarborough Country. In July 2007, he landed his morning show, Morning Joe. Meanwhile, Brzezinski briefly worked for the network in 2001, then returned in January 2007. She has been Scarborough’s cohost since Morning Joe’s inception.

While the exact details of Scarborough and Brzezinski’s first meeting are unclear, they’ve known each other for nearly 20 years. However, they insisted in an interview with Vanity Fair that nothing happened between them while they were married to their former spouses, and that their feelings for each other had nothing to do with their respective divorces.

When did Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski get married?

Although there were rumors of a romantic relationship between the two for a bit of time, they didn’t confirm their relationship until May 2017 when they revealed that they had gotten engaged during a trip to France. Brzezinski told Vanity Fair that their working relationship had turned romantic in early 2016 after she split from her ex-husband.

“Over the past year and a half, I realized I had to face these feelings and that it was time to stop putting them in a box,” she said. “It was not an easy process and it was not an easy set of decisions for either of us. It was something I couldn’t deny anymore.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski tied the knot in November 2018. Their wedding was an intimate affair in Washington D.C. “We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe,” Brzezinski said. “Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we want this to be private until it’s over. We wanted to recognize it more quietly and have the people who are most important to us around us. And you know, our show is a cocktail party every morning.”

Do Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have kids?

The couple does not share any children, but they have blended their families since tying the knot. He has four kids from past relationships, while she has two.

Scarborough married his first wife, Melanie Hinton, in 1996. They had two sons together before their 1999 split. He went on to marry Susan Waren in October 2001. They have a daughter and son, born in August 2003 and May 2008, respectively. Scarborough and Waren divorced in 2013.

Meanwhile, Brzezinski was married to James Patrick Hoffer from 1993 until their divorce was finalized in 2016. The exes have two daughters.

Where do Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski live?

Scarborough and Brzezinski live in Jupiter, Florida. They bought a home there in 2018 for $1.2 million but sold it in June 2023, according to The New York Post. The paper reported that the pair then downsized and bought a townhouse just down the road. They have a home studio where they can record their talk show.

The couple also spends a lot of time in Maine during the summers. Brzezinski inherited a home there after her parents’ deaths and it has become a favorite spot for her family.

When the cohosts got engaged, they were not living together yet. At the time, they were still figuring out the best way to blend their families.
