‘Kardashians’: Kim Reveals She Bought Her Own Engagement Ring From Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian reminisced about her three engagements during the Thursday, March 13, episode of The Kardashians. After getting glammed up with diamonds for a wedding in India, Kim started considering wearing her diamond jewelry again. She had mostly stopped dipping herself in expensive jewels after being robbed in 2017.
The trip down memory lane had Kim looking back at her engagement rings. “I wonder what my next ring shape will be,” she teased, hinting that she would be down to tie the knot again with a future partner. “For my last and final hurrah.”
Kim then revealed that her ring from first husband Damon Thomas was actually her mom Kris Jenner‘s ring. “[It] was a cushion cut, 14 carats. I still have it,” she revealed. Khloé Kardashian then questioned, “Number two you bought from Lorraine [Schwartz?]”
The Skims founder confirmed that she purchased the Kris Humphries ring from the jeweler herself. “I didn’t keep that,” she shared. “I was pregnant with North, still married to [Kris], and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce. That I bought. He contributed a fifth.”
The jeweler told Kim it was the “best getting rid of” she could’ve ever done and said it was “worth every dollar.” She also confirmed that the sparkler was an emerald cut diamond that was “about 18 [carats] with the sides.”
Kim and Kris were married for 72 days before she filed for divorce in 2011. The following year, he sold the ring for $749,000 at a Christie’s auction. It was estimated to have originally been worth $2 million.
When Kim and Kanye West got engaged in October 2013, he proposed with a cushion cut ring, which Kim luckily didn’t have with her during the Paris robbery. After previously wearing both of her rings from Ye in an Instagram video, the rapper told his then-wife never to rock both in public at the same time.
“[He] saw it and said, ‘Don’t you ever wear both of your rings at the same time. Are you looking to get robbed?'” Kim recalled. “So I left my original ring that I got proposed to with, which was the most important, [at home]. That one I’m going to give to Northie because she was with me when I got engaged and she held it after.”
