How ‘Bridgerton’ Led Claudia Jessie to Real-Life Romance With Boyfriend Cole Edwards
Bridgerton is the epicenter of love stories, both onscreen and off. Claudia Jessie, aka the one and only Eloise Bridgerton, met her now-boyfriend Cole Edwards while auditioning for the show.
Jessie opened up about her offscreen love life — sorry, no news about Eloise’s relationship status! — in a rare interview.
“I got a job and a fella on the same day,” she told The Guardian. “It was a great day for me, wasn’t it?”
Before Bridgerton became Netflix’s global phenomenon, the show had hired Edwards as a casting director. He helped cast Jessie as the fiercely independent Eloise.
It also helped that she could do a “really good posh accent,” she added. “Because you’re so used to hearing them growing up – imitating them is easy.”
Jessie and Edwards are now living together in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter with their dog. In addition to Bridgerton Season 4 and her new film Toxic Town, Jessie is teaming up with her boyfriend on a short film called Booty, which was written and directed by Edwards. “If it all went tits-up tomorrow and I died or something, well, my life has been amazing,” she admitted.
Bridgerton Season 4 is currently filming. The second eldest Bridgerton brother, Benedict (Luke Thompson), is set to take the stage as the lead. He’ll be romancing Yerin Ha‘s Sophie Baek, and their story stems from Julia Quinn’s An Offer From a Gentleman. The fourth season does not have a premiere date yet.
All the Eloise fans are anxious to know when her story will be the focus on the series. To Sir Phillip, With Love is the fifth book in the series, so many fans assume Eloise’s love story will be the focus of Season 5. However, the Bridgerton team has already switched the order of Quinn’s books by centering on Colin’s (Luke Newton) romance with Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in Season 3 instead of Benedict’s relationship with Sophie.
