‘When Calls the Heart’ Sneak Peek: Lucas Takes a Chance & Asks Edie Out (VIDEO)
Edie Martel (Miranda MacDougall) is back town, and Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) is very happy to see her in Swooon‘s exclusive preview of the March 2 episode of When Calls the Heart.
Lucas crosses paths with Edie at the saloon, where she’s currently living. “Sounds like Uncle Ernie left me more than just a bankrupt ranch,” she says in the sneak peek. “It seemed like he was mixed up in something, so they advised me to find safe harbor.”
Lucas replies, “Well, that’s fantastic. Not the troubles, but…” He then asks Edie out, but there’s a catch. “Seeing as you’re here, I’m wondering if you might want to join me for dinner, if you’re free. A working dinner,” he says.
Edie accepts his offer, and she looks right into Lucas’ eyes when she says “working dinner.” Could this outing be the start of something more between Lucas and Edie?
Lee (Kavan Smith), who is back behind the bar, is well aware that something is brewing between Lucas and Edie. He looks very pleased that these two will be seeing each other, even if it’s just about work (for now).
Lucas and Edie agree to meet at the cafe to test the new menu. “Welcome back,” Lucas says with a smile before heading on his way.
Edie was introduced earlier in Season 12, and Lucas (and viewers) initially thought she was engaged. In Episode 4, Edie revealed to Lucas that she was once engaged but isn’t anymore. She only wore a ring to keep suitors away.
Ahead of Season 12’s premiere, McNally spoke with Swooon about the future of Lucas’ love life. “Well, there is one of the new characters that’s coming to town who represents a fairly strong opposition to Lucas, and I think within that is a spark of chemistry, and we will see where that goes,” McNally told Swooon, referring to Edie.
At the time, McNally was tight-lipped about where this journey was headed, but he added, “I think fans will be excited to meet this new individual and get to know them and follow that journey.” Could Edie be the woman who captures Lucas’ heart?
