Younger came to a conclusion with the Season 7 finale in 2021, but there’s definitely still more to explore in the worlds of some of the show’s characters. With the show recently being added to Netflix, there’s been an influx of new fans who want more.

While the main storyline of Younger — a 40-year-old woman masquerades as a 26-year-old to have a better chance at getting a job in the publishing field — ran its course, a spinoff could be a great way to bring back one or more of the beloved cast members for a new story. Even if everyone didn’t return, there would at least be the opportunity for guest appearances and verbal updates about the whereabouts of all the characters.

Scroll down for our list of ideas for a possible Younger spinoff!

1. Kelsey’s life in Los Angeles

At the end of Younger, Kelsey (Hilary Duff) announced her plans to move to Los Angeles after finding an investor for her app-based publishing platform, Inkubator. It was going to be a completely fresh start for Kelsey, who was not tied down to anyone romantically. A spinoff would be the perfect way to explore her new life on the West Coast, diving into both her professional and personal ups and downs.

As the head of a company, it would make sense for Kelsey to have to do some traveling back and forth to New York, which would give her a chance to reconnect with other characters who didn’t leave the city behind, like Liza (Sutton Foster), on occasion.

2. Caitlin’s story

A new show centered around Liza’s adult daughter Caitlin (Tessa Albertson) would be a logical direction to take a potential spinoff. Caitlin was rarely seen in Younger, so there’s more to learn about her. Plus, of course, this storyline would be the perfect way to keep Liza in the Younger orbit.

3. Lauren’s X-rated escapades

Lauren (Molly Bernard) propositioned her ex, Max (Ben Rappaport), and his fiancé, Greg (Josh Cooke), to have a threesome in the Younger finale. While rehashing the situation with Liza, she made it clear she wasn’t in a “throuple” and clarified, “I’m free and happily non-heteronormative.” Since Younger initially aired on TV Land, there wasn’t too much room to dive deeper into a storyline on this. But, if a streamer like Netflix — where the show has already gained so much popularity — decided to greenlight a spinoff, there could be a lot of fun and raunchiness with Lauren at the helm.

Of course, it would be fitting for her girls to pop in so she can recount her escapades, which would provide the perfect opportunity for phone calls to Kelsey or meet-ups with Liza — if she can handle the dirty details!

4. Josh and Clare’s co-parenting

The Younger finale implied that Liza ended up with Josh (Nico Tortorella), the younger man whom she dated in the early seasons while pretending to be in her 20s. Following their breakup, Josh welcomed a baby with Clare (Phoebe Dynevor). Although Josh and Clare’s relationship didn’t work out, they eventually established a good rapport as co-parents, and Tortorella and Dynevor would undoubtedly be awesome co-leads in a spinoff.

If this spinoff did happen, Foster’s involvement would be a key element, though. If Liza and Josh did end up together, it wouldn’t make much sense for a show to center around Josh with Liza only appearing minimally. So, basically, for the spinoff to happen, Foster would either have to commit to fairly regular role, or viewers will have to deal with the fact that she and Josh weren’t endgame.
