‘Love Is Blind’: Who Is Dave’s Mysterious Sister? A Deep Dive
Dave Bettenburg’s sister was never in the Love Is Blind Season 8 pods, but it sure felt like she was. You may like or dislike Dave, but one thing everyone can agree on when watching Season 8 is that he talked about his sister a lot.

Dave’s sister quickly became a crucial aspect of Dave’s relationship with Lauren O’Brien, and he’s since addressed the attacks on his family. So, who exactly is Dave’s sister? Did she appear on the show? Swooon is doing a deep dive into Dave’s mysterious sibling.
Who is Dave’s sister on Love Is Blind?
Not much is known about Dave’s sister besides her relation to Dave. The two appear to have a tight bond. Dave has posted his older sister on his Instagram page throughout the years. He often refers to her as “his teammate.”
Why did Dave talk about his sister so much?
Dave admitted to having a “strong relationship” with his sister. He loves his sibling so much, so it felt natural to him to mention them throughout the experiment.

The reason Dave continued to mention his sister in the pods was due to her stance on the Love Is Blind experiment. Dave revealed that his sister disagrees with the premise of the hit Netflix reality TV show and was less-than-pleased about her brother’s decision to appear in its eighth installment. He was consistently worried about how she would react if he left the experiment engaged.
Following the episode where Dave and Lauren end their engagement, Dave took to Instagram to sound off about the breakup and how his family has been treated. “I’m far from perfect and I’m not here for sympathy. This experiment was very difficult and I’ve learned a lot this past year. The way I handled things wasn’t fair to anyone, especially Lauren,” he began.

He continued with a strong message, “Please direct all hate towards me and leave my family out of it.” Yet, many fans in his comments continued to make jokes about his relationship with his sister. One person said, “Was this post approved by your wifesister,” while another shared, “You and your sis married yet?”
What has Dave said about his sister?
After people called Dave out for bringing up his sister a “concerning” amount, Dave hopped on The Viall Files to defend her. “The internet is just insane because apparently having a good relationship with your sister is a bad thing,” he began. “Sorry, she’s cool. Whatever.”
When asked about what she thinks about his Netflix adventure, he revealed, “I think she’s doing OK. If she was struggling with it, she would have been talking with me and texting me a lot. I think she’s doing alright.”
While in the pods, he admitted to Lauren that he was freaked out about how his sister would react to him going on Love Is Blind. “I really hope she can find a way to understand this,” he said. After getting engaged, Lauren brought up Dave’s sister and asked how they were doing. “I feel like she’s calmed down a lot since I’ve had my phone back,” he revealed. Dave’s sister was apparently “nervous” that he was going to meet a girl “that was just some lunatic reality TV-chasing girl.” He also told Lauren that he’s “always wanted somebody that’s cool” like his sister.
Dave spoke with Swooon about why his sister has such a presence in his love life. “We’re very close. It’s just me and her,” Dave revealed. “Our mom passed away about eight years ago now, and she takes on a lot of those motherly responsibilities and things like that in my life… She just doesn’t want me to make mistakes in life.”
He also clarified his sister’s stance on the show. “Her main concern was never about Love Is Blind or me getting married or finding my person. Her main concern was how people can be portrayed in reality TV,” Dave told Swooon.
After the reunion, Lauren opened up about how she believes Dave “needing this approval” from his friends and family, including his sister, was just an “excuse.” She told Entertainment Tonight, “I think he even said it himself that if it was really important to him they would be there. It was really interesting to watch back that scene where our producer asks him, ‘What did your sister say?’ And he said, ‘Oh, she sent me a really nice text.’ And I think it doesn’t show anything about Dave’s sister. I think it shows how Dave was portraying his relationship to his sister. And so, I do think that that was him trying to find an out.”
Did Dave’s sister appear on Love Is Blind?
No. Although Dave talked about his sister plenty of times, she never made an appearance on the show. Lauren and Dave broke up in Episode 11, and she did not attend the Season 8 reunion, which aired on March 9.
Dave told Swooon that his sister had been watching the season. However, it’s been “really hard for her to watch” because she doesn’t like him “being shown as some bad guy or just not treating women well from what the viewers are seeing.”
