‘When Calls the Heart’: Erin Krakow Reveals Secret About Elizabeth’s Wedding Dress
Finding the right wedding dress is a crucial element of planning one’s nuptials. When and where will a bride say yes to the dress? Wedding dresses today are much easier to come by than in the early 20th century.
Turns out, Elizabeth’s wedding dress on When Calls the Heart came from one of the most iconic bridal stores in the world. While chatting about Season 12, Erin Krakow revealed a surprising fact about Elizabeth’s gown from Season 5.

“Fun fact, I was in New York, and I went to the Kleinfeld sample sale room and bought Elizabeth’s wedding dress from Season 5,” Krakow told Swooon. “I had to buy a whole new suitcase because I didn’t have room to bring it back with me to Vancouver. I lugged this dress back to Vancouver, and Barbara, our incredible costume designer, she tweaked it and adjusted things to make it more period accurate and appropriate for our show.”
The road to Elizabeth and Jack saying “I do” was a whirlwind. Elizabeth’s original wedding dress was burned in the church fire, so Rosemary (Pascale Hutton), Abigail (Lori Loughlin), and the other ladies of the community had to come together to make a new dress. They created a gorgeous gown with stunning lace detailing.
Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth’s happily ever after was short-lived. Jack was killed in a landslide in the Season 5 finale. After mourning the loss of her first great love, Elizabeth found love again with both Lucas (Chris McNally) and Nathan (Kevin McGarry).
After years of a slow burn, Elizabeth finally acknowledged her feelings for Nathan in Season 11. They’ve entered a new chapter of their relationship in Season 12, but Krakow and McGarry revealed that there’s trouble ahead. A “big” obstacle will not only “shatter their world, it shatters the entire community. It’s an intense thing that happens,” McGarry teased.
