Who Is Alan Ritchson’s Wife? Inside ‘Reacher’ Star’s Love Story With His Beloved Wife

How did Alan Ritchson and his wife meet?
The couple met while they were in the same ballet class in Florida. However, it took months for Alan to approach Catherine. At the time, he was 17 and she was 16.
It wasn’t until Alan got some intel about Catherine from a friend that he felt comfortable speaking to her for the first time. “After the millionth time of us sitting next to each other, inches away, tying our shoes, so now it’s super awkward, I was like, ‘So, I heard you ice skate,'” Alan said in an interview with Men’s Health. “She was, like, the sweetest thing in the world.”
For her side of the story, Catherine recalled seeing her now-husband for the first time and asking her friend, “Who is that?” As she said on the Road to Wisdom podcast, “He, at some point, came up to me and we just got chatting.”
The two broke up after their first summer together, which Alan says was because he “couldn’t afford gas” to visit his girlfriend while she lived a half hour away. Luckily, they eventually reconnected while Catherine was a student at the University of Florida and Alan was in town for a modeling shoot. They tied the knot in 2006.

Alan and Catherine are the proud parents of three children. Their son, Calem, was born in 2012, followed by another son, Edan, in 2013, and a third baby boy, Amory, in 2015.

Where do Alan Ritchson and his wife live?
Since 2023, Alan, Catherine, and their kids have lived life “on the road.” They sold their home and are now navigating a lifestyle that’s more suitable to the actor’s work commitments.
“Being away from my family for long stretches on location was hard on them and me,” he explained to the Wall Street Journal. “So Cat and I recently sold our Florida house and we now live in Airbnbs and hotels while I’m on set.”

These days, Catherine home schools the three children she shares with Alan. However, she previously worked as a financial analyst for International Creative Management from 2006-2014, according to LinkedIn.
Catherine certainly has her hands full when it comes to supporting her family amid Alan’s busy career. The Reacher star has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and credits Catherine with sticking by him when things get difficult.
“Dealing with a bipolar husband who can give a sane partner severe whiplash and a level of fame that nothing can prepare you for… I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Yet, this is the straw she drew when she said ‘I do,'” he wrote on Instagram in 2023. “Thank GOD for someone with the unspeakable strength, persistence, resilience, patience, grace, love, compassion and forgiveness to suffer through the valleys with me.”
Catherine Ritchson is sober
Catherine has been alcohol-free since 2018. That October, she decided to participate in Sober October and continued abstaining from alcohol after the 31 days finished. “I would encourage anyone out there who feels like they begin to ponder a life without alcohol but are quickly swept back into the current of our culture’s expectations or even our own psychological expectations; give yourself some room to experiment,” she urged her Instagram followers.
