Will Fiona Return to ‘When Calls the Heart’ For Good? Kevin McGarry Weighs In
When Calls the Heart fans got a delightful surprise when Fiona Miller (Kayla Wallace) returned to Hope Valley in Season 12. The character made her debut in Season 6 and left after Season 10 due to Wallace’s Landman scheduling conflicts.
Fiona did return for Mike (Ben Rosenbaum) and Mei’s (Amanda Wong) wedding at the end of Season 11 and has already popped up again in Season 12. So, could Fiona be coming back full time at some point? Swooon got the scoop from Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan and is also Wallace’s real-life husband.
“She’s made all these great friends on the show as well. She’ll take any opportunity she can to be part of it,” McGarry said. “And, you know, an opportunity presented itself. She was able to find time in her busy schedule. It was great having her on set. I think she did a great job.”
He added, “Every time Fiona leaves, it’s never like a permanent thing. I think, not only for Kayla and the character Fiona, but we might see a lot of the other characters come back as well.”
During Fiona’s latest return, she explained that she was going to head back to San Francisco and gave a major update about her romantic life. Apparently, there’s a man in San Francisco who has proposed a few times, but she’s not sure if she’s ready to take that next step.
As much as Fiona loves Hope Valley, San Francisco is the right place for her. “I want to be somewhere where I can make a difference,” she said. Fiona originally left Hope Valley to be a part of the Suffragette movement with her sisters.
McGarry also opened up to Swooon about meeting Wallace on the set of the Hallmark series. “I owe a lot to When Calls the Heart for not only helping my career and giving me a job and meeting all my friends, but meeting Kayla, meeting my wife, it’s been the most special part of being on that show,” he said.
