‘Love Is Blind’s Lydia & Milton Share Rare Update About Life Today and Reflect on Season 5
Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James “Milton” Johnson IV have been busy since their time on Love Is Blind.
Getting married after just weeks of knowing one another, they are now heading into their fourth year as a wedded union. The only couple from Season 5 to say “I do” at the altar, they are thrilled about the journey they’re on together.
Remembering the moments before the pods opened up, the union talked to Swooon for Blind Items about why the franchise appealed to them. Milton began by saying that it was “slightly unconventional” and that he was fascinated by it. He admitted, “I consider myself a little bit of an unconventional type of person, in just my daily life.” Ultimately he decided, “Well, I’m not dating anybody. I am interested in marriage, so let’s see what happens.”
The same can be said for Lydia who stated that she just wasn’t choosing the right partners. “I was ready for that,” she said. “Taking that leap of faith and finding my spouse and finding my person, I was ready for marriage, and I believed in the experiment.”
Luckily, they believed their instincts. Working well as a team, they have embarked on plenty of life since the cameras last left off with them. “The biggest goal for 2025 is graduating.” Milton divulged. He is currently finishing up his MBA in Finance. He explained that it’s tough being a full-time husband, employee, and student all at once, joking, “Apparently, going to sleep every night at 2 a.m. and waking up at 7 [a.m.] isn’t the most ideal for your health.” Lydia jumped in, “We’re very excited for him to finish so we can go back to a little bit more of normalcy.”
Although life has been overwhelming as of late, the duo prioritizes keeping the romance alive. Lydia immediately had a story come to mind about when she was “bugging him” to spend some time together when all of a sudden he arranged a quick date. As they sat in a park, they enjoyed each other’s company but had different opinions on where exactly the romance originated. Milton, a scientist, mentioned “the chemical containers and the chemical vessels,” describing it as “pretty nice,” while Arleen referenced, “It was your company in the stars.”
Milton loves the little things. He likes it when his wife picks up his dry cleaning when he’s busy, showing that she cares, yet he has also been blown away by the loving gestures Lydia has performed for him.
Casually bringing up in conversation that he had never had a “real birthday party,” Lydia kept it in the back of her mind, and months later surprised him with a full-blown get-together. “She gathered all my buddies, and it was a masked birthday party for me,” Johnson detailed. “We were all wearing, like, Pokemon masks.” He also shared that she had gathered not only his immediate friends but also the older ones she had never even met.
“I thought that was pretty special,” he gushed.
