Not shying away from delicate subjects, Kristin Davis reveals all Sex and the City-related secrets and even delves into her personal life on her Are You A Charlotte? podcast. During the February 10 episode, she discussed the Season 1 episode “Bay of Married Pigs.”

The biggest topic of discussion? “Are single women truly enemies to married women, and does this still exist?” This proved to be something close to Davis’ heart as she is currently single.

The 59-year-old admitted, “It was never my goal, really, to get married.” However, she has definitely felt pressured in the past to find a significant other.

Starting her discussion by quoting Cynthia Nixon‘s character Miranda Hobbes, “They became married, and we became the enemy,” Davis questioned whether that is still the case in 2025. She mentioned that none of her long-standing married friendships see her as “the enemy,” but she continued that she knows that’s not the case for everyone. Davis emphasized that she feels as if there’s a “married people club” and a “single people club,” which is something that hasn’t changed much since the ’90s.

Retelling another line from the episode, Davis quoted Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), “Married women are threatened because we can have sex anytime, anywhere, with anyone, and they’re afraid we’re going to have it anytime, anywhere, with their husbands.” Letting that sit for a second, Davis stated, “Now, maybe that’s true.”

This is completely different from her character, Charlotte York, who doesn’t believe this theory.  Charlotte, however, hates it when she gets the “poor single look” at a party. “I don’t know if I personally get the poor single look anymore because I think everybody knows I’m single, or they think maybe they don’t know exactly if I am single,” Davis said. “It cuts deep those kinds of looks.” The actress admitted she is baffled that an episode written in 1998 still holds up.

“I definitely do feel that there is the pressure on, probably everyone, but definitely on women, that you are supposed to find a significant other and/or get married or whatever, and if you do not people wonder what is wrong with you. I certainly have experienced this in my life,” Davis added. “I have my kids, and I’m super focused on them.” She highlighted, “Everyone has their own journey.”

In the sixth installment of Are You A Charlotte?, Davis also talked about the progressive storyline of Miranda being perceived as a lesbian. The actress began, “I remember asking Cynthia, ‘How was it to kiss the woman?’ And she was like ‘Eh.’ And I was like ‘Really, just eh?'” Not satisfied by just that answer, Davis pressed on, “Cynthia, are you sure you felt nothing? There’s nothing wrong. You could feel something, it would be fine, it could be sexy. She was like, ‘Nah, nothing.'” Stopping the conversation after that reaction, Davis recalled, “Of course, many years later, we would discuss that.”
