Who Does Bridget Jones End Up With? Here’s Your Romance Refresh

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.]
A fan of the Bridget Jones series but need a little recap to figure out her complicated love life? Please, don’t worry about it, because Swooon is getting you up to speed.
Still wondering who Bridget (Renée Zellweger) married and who fathered her babies? What happened to Mark Darcy? Is Daniel Cleaver still a contender after Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy? Here’s a full rundown of Bridget’s romantic life through the years.
Who does Bridget Jones end up with?
Still not tied down to her longtime on-again-off-again lover Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), Bridget is once again single at the beginning of the 2016 flick Bridget Jones’s Baby. She finds solace in her younger work colleagues-turned-friends while going through a midlife crisis once she realizes that all of her friends are in the midst of creating or raising their families.
Following along with Miranda’s (Sarah Solemani) whims, Bridget heads to Glastonbury and meets Ed Sheeran. But, no, she does not hook up with the “Perfect” singer. Instead, she hops into bed (or something that resembles it … they are, after all, still at the popular festival) with American fox Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey). She leaves his tent before swapping contacts, so it appears that this was just a silly little one-night stand. However, that’s quickly proven to be untrue.
Attracted to Jack, she is charmed to see him when he walks into her TV studio. Nevertheless, in true Bridget fashion, she doesn’t just go up to him, but makes her friend do her bidding on live television. Finally, they make sure to actually give each other their numbers after reconnecting.
This comes in handy when she finds out a bit later that she’s pregnant. This doesn’t solve all of Bridget’s issues and puts her in a pickle. Oh, yeah, did I forget to mention that she also had a memorable night with her ex Darcy? Not knowing whose offspring she’s carrying, Bridget doesn’t even know where to begin to explain this to the two men.
Jack and Darcy battle it out as they vie for Bridget’s affection. This fight lasts throughout her entire pregnancy as Bridget refuses an amniocentesis in fear of a miscarriage. After giving birth, a DNA test can finally be done, and, surprise, surprise, her true love Mark Darcy is the father. The two marry and their union can finally begin.
Bridget and Mark were supposed to revel in her happily-ever-after, but in between Bridget Jones’s Baby and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Mark dies, leaving Bridget behind with their two young kids. Therefore, she is once again single and this time around, she’s in her 50s.
So, what happened to her? Did she stumble into another love triangle? Kind of. But also not really. She dates both Roxter (Leo Woodall) and Mr. Wallaker (Chiwetel Ejiofor) in the latest movie, but their love journeys never overlap.
The age gap between Roxter and Bridget proved to be too much, so they put a stop to their once-exciting romance. Hopping all over London, their summer fling was definitely a fun chapter in Bridget’s life.

Yet, a second chance of true love appears when Mr. Wallaker seriously enters the picture. Not just helping Bridget move on from the loss of Mark, he also aids a grieving Billy (Casper Knopf). Winning over the leading lady and her kids, the couple is off to a bright future.
Mr. Wallaker is the right guy for Bridget now because anyone who is able to make science the most romantic language on earth deserves a shot at love. Who knew Newton’s third law could make you weep?
What happened to Jack Qwant?
Although he stays friends with Bridget and eventually even Mark, he disappears from the scene after Bridget Jones’s Baby. We imagine he’s in a Silicon Valley mansion with a wife and two kids. He, of course, found his significant other through his algorithm.
What happened to Daniel Cleaver?
Bridget and Darcy have been through plenty of troubles. Their initial meeting as adults wasn’t great due to Bridget’s relationship with Mark’s ex-best friend Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), and they couldn’t even be cordial for a while. Yet after a punch, or two, or three, between the former buddies, Mark and Bridget find their way to each other.
But, then they lose track of each other once more as Bridget finds her way back to Daniel in Thailand. Okay, not really for a romance, but a steamy night between the two still ensues in the tropical paradise. Yet, eventually Bridget comes to her senses and declares her love for Mark again.
Thinking Daniel died before the events of Bridget Jones’s Baby, fans were relieved when a newspaper revealed that he was actually alive and just in hiding. So, after not appearing in the third installment, the audience was thrilled to see their favorite bad boy back in action in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
This time around, however, he is done making moves on Bridget. Somehow Daniel does eventually realize that what he shares with Bridget is a form of love, just not the romantic kind. In the hospital after a scary bout of heart murmurs, Daniel comes to the conclusion that Bridget is the only one who cares for him.
Using this hardship to become a better person. Daniel reconnects with his teenage son, all the while still keeping his friendship with Bridget alive and well.
