How Many Kids Does ‘Special Forces’ Star Cam Newton Have? Meet His Children & Their Mothers

Cam Newton left a lot of important people back home to take part in Season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Since ending his football career in 2021, Newton has continued to build his family, which hasn’t made things easy on his bank account.
“I’m going into a different phase of my life that’s going to require a different form of myself,” Newton said on Special Forces. “Being in the NFL, everyone knows there’s a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time, and being away from the game for three years, those checks don’t come in the same. Like I got eight kids. It hurts me knowing that I can’t provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that I’m Superman, but in reality, I’m just a man”

How many kids does Cam Newton have?
Newton considers himself to be a father to eight children. He has six biological kids and is a father-figure to two children from his exes’ past relationships.
“I proudly say I have eight children,” Newton said on the Club Shay Shay podcast in April 2024. “Six biologically through me. And I don’t believe in stepchildren. What my biological kids get, everybody gets. I don’t have no favorites. I’m raising kings and queens.”
Who are Cam Newton’s kids?
The former NFL star first took on a parenting role to his then-girlfriend’s daughter, Shakira, in 2012. For her birthday in 2017, Newton wrote a touching, now-deleted Instagram message to his eldest where he noted that they “first met” five years earlier. “I remember the first day you called me daddy and I was scared as hell,” he admitted.
However, he made it clear that he considered himself to be Shakira’s father. “Your mom and I are not married, but no one can tell you that I’m not your father and they damn sure can’t tell me that you’re not my daughter. I love you, or better yet, Daddy loves you Kirry,” Newton concluded.
The athlete welcomed son Chosen Sebastian in December 2015. “My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week,” Newton wrote on X at the time. “Our family is excited, and thank you all for the well wishes!” He then added daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella to the family in February 2017, followed by son Camidas Swain in July 2018, and son Cashmere Saint in September 2019.

Ahead of Cashmere’s birth, Newton also welcomed son Caesar Lorenzo with another woman in July 2019 (more on that below). He also became a father-figure to her son, Jaden (born in February 2006) from a previous relationship.
Newton’s youngest child, a baby girl, was born in March 2024. He has not confirmed her name.
Who are the mothers of Cam Newton’s kids?
Newton shares his first five children with Kia Proctor. The two started dating in 2012, at which point she had already welcomed Shakira in a previous relationship. “The thing is that person that I was while we were having children together, I couldn’t be the best husband,” he admitted in his YouTube series, regarding why he never married Proctor. “I wasn’t prepared to be a husband then.”
Unfortunately, Newton and Proctor’s long-term relationship ended by the beginning of 2020 after he cheated on her with La Reina Shaw, the mother of Caesar and Jaden. Despite the scandal, Newton insisted he never had any intention of keeping Caesar a secret.
“It’s just really putting certain things into perspective and, you know, it was embarrassing for me,” he said on The Pivot podcast. “And honestly, it is embarrassing to talk about, but everybody don’t really wanna talk about real situations in life, and that molded me. I just stopped caring what people thought about it because I come home and I have a due diligence to be the best father that I can possibly be, and sometimes you fall short. What are you supposed to do? Cry?… I would never have a hidden child out there. I would never not speak on the facts because there are a lot of people that can live vicariously through me and be better from it.”
It’s unclear when Newton and Shaw split, but by the beginning of 2022, he was in a relationship with Jasmin Brown, who is the mother of his youngest baby girl.
