It’s been almost three months since Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple were able to go public with their engagement, and fans are dying to know when they’ll take the next step and tie the knot.

While Golden Bachelor exes Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist wasted no time walking down the aisle, Vassos and Chapple are taking a bit more time. She gave an update on their plans while appearing on the Rogue Energy podcast.

“[Chock’s] like, ‘Do whatever you want.’ Chock is the easiest person, the most laid back,” Vassos shared. “He’s like, ‘Whatever you want, you just do.’ What I want right now is to just be a couple.”

So, instead of planning a wedding, the Golden Bachelorette stars are continuing to adapt to life in the real world. “We have only been out in public for less than three months, so we’re still doing stuff that, like, beginning couples are doing,” Vassos pointed out. “Introducing each other to our friends. He only knows a few of my friends. We’ve never gone on vacation together other than meeting in New York City for a few days, so we’re actually going to a beach in a few days.”

On Monday, February 3, Vassos revealed on her Instagram Story that she and Chapple were headed to Cancún, Mexico, for their first real trip as a couple. As she explained on the podcast, “We’re going to have a real vacation. We’re going to get on a plane, go to a beach, sit in the sand, and have no one bother us.”

Although Vassos and Chapple’s love story didn’t finish airing on television until November 2024, they’ve actually been engaged since July. However, they’re prioritizing getting to know each other over tying the knot.

Still, Chapple hinted in January that they’re “getting closer” to making it official. “Somebody today at lunch said, ’25?’ and I said, ‘Maybe at the end of ’25 or ’26,'” he teased, adding, “We’re having a lot of fun together just getting to know each other.”

As the reality stars saw, things didn’t work out or Turner and Nist when they got married just weeks after going public with their relationship. They wound up separating three months later, and their divorce was finalized in June. “You really can’t know somebody in four weeks,” Nist said on the Almost Famous podcast in November. “I’ll say that. That’s all I can say,”
