Where Is Sarah Trott From Matt James’ ‘Bachelor’ Season Today? Updates After Rachael Kirkconnell’s Interview
During her Call Her Daddy interview, Rachael Kirkconnell made a quick reference to a woman named Sarah from her season of The Bachelor. The woman in question was Sarah Trott, who has distanced herself from Bachelor Nation since appearing on the show in 2021.
“I’ll never forget the very first night walking out of my hotel room and seeing one of the girls. She’s so stunning. So perfect. Her name is Sarah,” Kirkconnell shared. “I saw her and I was like, ‘I’m screwed. All of the girls are so stunning, gorgeous, seem perfect.’ And I was just wondering why I was there, really.”
Kirkconnell went on to get Matt James‘ final rose. Following a brief split in 2021, they stayed together for almost four years before breaking up earlier this month. Meanwhile, Trott went home during week 3. Scroll down for everything we know about The Bachelor alum and what she’s up to today.
What happened to Sarah Trott on The Bachelor?
Trott had a rough run on The Bachelor. She received the first one-on-one date with James and became a target for some of the other women in the house. She fainted during the second rose ceremony and was accused of doing so for attention. Then, she crashed a group date while struggling with feelings of insecurity and jealousy because James was dating so many women at once.
While she did apologize, she continued to keep to herself in the mansion, prompting James to go check on her while picking another woman up for a date. Many of the other women were frustrated that Trott was taking up so much of James’ time. She ended up leaving the show before the next rose ceremony.
“I just felt really called to go home and be with my family,” she said, referencing her dad’s battle with ALS at home. “I just don’t think I’m ready for this.”
Did Sarah Trott have a boyfriend while on The Bachelor?
Even after Trott’s exit from the show, she still made headlines after rumors surfaced that she was dating a man named Ben Dorman while on The Bachelor. Just weeks before filming began, she was photographed spending time with him in Mexico. However, Trott denied being in a relationship during her time on the dating show.
“Sarah unequivocally did not have a boyfriend before, during or after her appearance on The Bachelor,” a rep for Trott told E! News. “When she took a trip to Cabo in August 2020, she did so with a group of friends, Ben Dorman being one of them. Ben and Sarah had a fun trip with their mutual friends, and while there may have been some intimate moments between them, it did not lead to a relationship. Sarah went on the trip to Cabo single and came back single, still on her journey to find love, which is why she agreed to go on The Bachelor a month or so later.”
What is Sarah Trott doing now?

Trott lives in Arizona and is in a relationship with Grant Fisher, the CEO of VAI Resort in Arizona. She and Fisher have seemingly been together since 2023.
Sarah Trott’s dad died from ALS
On The Bachelor, Trott was open about the struggles of having a parent with a terminal illness. Her father was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, when she was just 19. She eventually became his caregiver, putting her broadcast television career on hold to be with him.
Trott’s dad died in October 2021, just months after her season of The Bachelor aired. He had been battling ALS for nearly six years at the time of his death. Now, Trott is an ALS advocate who “works with the local and national ALS organizations to advocate for research and caregiver support.”
