Paul shared some big news with all of her followers via TikTok, her platform of choice. She was separating from her husband, Tate Paul.
Just a couple of videos later, the 30-year-old star revealed even more shocking news. Yes, I’m talking about the clip that made the MomTok wives explode and become a viral sensation. Telling the entire world about her “soft swinging” adventures might not have made her popular in her friendship group, but it did get her a Hulu reality TV show, so I guess that must count for something. She has since deleted TikTok.

Just a few months after her split from Paul, the original MomTok creator hinted at something exciting happening in her dating life. Paul wrote on TikTok, “Been heartbroken twice this summer and this cute sweet mf comes out of nowhere.” She was talking about Mortensen. Afterward, the mother of three shared some texts that the two had exchanged, highlighting one that said, “The feeling is mutual.”

At the time, their situation was rather complicated. When the Utah Reddit community started up with rumors about her supposed relationship status, she made it clear that she was single. But then, Paul started to post some complicated clips.
“Hope it’s cool if I talk to other girls,” she put in quotation marks. Her response to it was, “No worries, I’ll talk to your whole friend group. I’m good at sharing. Stay toxic.”

That same month, however, the romantic connection between Paul and Mortensen picked up again. She made that clear by sharing a telling statement, “You just got divorced take your time, stay single, and have fun for a while.” Shaking her head to what’s on the screen, another text blurb popped up, “Instantly falls this for this one mf.” Mortensen replied, “Lucky guy whoever he is,” to which Paul replied, “You’d be surprised how similar you two are.”

A month later, Mortensen made his official debut on her TikTok account. Paul was also adamant that Mortensen was not the one she cheated on her ex-husband with.

November 2022
The duo divulged a sad update to their followers. Paul experienced an ectopic pregnancy. She discussed this on the first season of Mormon Wives.
December 2022
The couple broke up for the first time since they announced their relationship to the public.

Paul and Mortensen got back together just a month later.

In a gleeful “Get Ready With Me” video, Paul opened up about how the pair started dating. She even revealed that they had known each other for years. Mortensen began to follow her on social media way before the scandal but didn’t hit her up until after that happened.
Their happiness didn’t last long as later that month, on February 17, Paul was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief, and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a minor after an altercation with Mortensen. This became one of the major plot points of the first few episodes of Mormon Wives. “Getting arrested, it was the worst night of my life. I ended up being charged with aggravated assault with three years of probation,” Paul said on the show.

In an unexpected TikTok, the two emphasized that they were still, in fact, an item. This update came after many people had been inquiring about their current status following Paul’s arrest.

Paul and Mortensen were still happily together but they weren’t planning on making things official anytime soon. She did another “Get Ready With Me” and explained her decision to not rush into another marriage.
March 2024
Their son, Ever True Mortensen, was born on March 19. This was also around the time that Mormon Wives star Mayci Neeley investigated whether Mortensen cheated on Paul or not. Mortensen was adamant that he didn’t!
August 2024
Mortensen was feeling rather emotional and shared a tribute to his family. He stated the importance of Paul, their child, and that he would fight for them no matter what.
September 2024
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu and all seemed to be going well for the couple.
However, a bunch of allegations soon came out of the woodwork. With plenty of people talking about “their past” with Mortensen, he once again denied cheating on Paul. The rumors threw another wrench in their relationship. “I would say we’re working on things, and I actually have no idea where it goes with us from here. We are not fully together but not fully done. I don’t know what the future holds with him and I,” she told Us Weekly.

In October, she seemed to have a clear answer about what was happening between her and Mortensen. She posted a story on her Instagram that read, “Due to personal reasons, I’ll be back with the same man I said I’m done with.”
December 2024
Their reconciliation didn’t last for long. By December, the two had decided to break up again.
Paul allowed her followers to see her real feelings as she posted a TikTok of her crying with the text, “Chaos to pure silence. Wouldn’t wish this pain upon anyone, if you’re there take a drive, scream, cry, feel the pain, because I promise avoiding it will make it much worse.”
This wasn’t the end of the saga as Paul made everyone aware that 2024 wasn’t one of her best years. Instead, she even called it one of her “worst” in her end-of-year round-up. She didn’t give out all the details, but she mentioned her tough postpartum experience, “a year of a ton of change,” and cited 2024 as the year she “let pain in” and focused on her mental health.

Mortensen also referenced their split in his last video of the year as he posted a “Move in with me” TikTok, which showed him moving into a new apartment without Paul.
January 2025
Not wanting to be stuck feeling so many negative motions, Paul shared a TikTok celebrating the positives of 2024. This included the birth of her baby boy and a shoutout to her therapist. One person who was obviously missing was Mortensen. She did, however, allude to him in a following video, which showed off a T-shirt of herself that was meant to be a Christmas gift. “Awkward, I ended up having to keep this gift, but I gave him the gift of half of me forever so that should do,” she wrote in the clip.
Somehow the T-shirt still made it to Mortensen. He posted a TikTok of him wearing the same exact one the next day. “Actually afraid to post this,” he captioned the TikTok. “Technically was supposed to be mine.”

In another turn of events, Paul and Mortensen once again seem to be on good terms!
The former (?) item buried the hatchet right before Mortensen’s 32nd birthday. To celebrate, Paul hopped onto Instagram to say, “Happy birthday baby daddy 🎉 wish nothing but the best for you.” She attached it to a short video of a shirtless Mortensen with their son in his arms.
