Everything happens for a reason. Joan Vassos’ journey with Gerry Turner on The Golden Bachelor was cut short when she left the show to care for her daughter, who had just given birth. Vassos went on to become the first-ever Golden Bachelorette and fell in love with Chock Chapple.

Meanwhile, Turner got engaged to Golden Bachelor winner Theresa Nist and married in a live TV wedding at the top of 2024. Sadly, the couple decided to divorce after just a few months of dating. Given their history and being the two leads of the Golden Bachelor Nation shows, what does Vassos and Turner’s relationship look like in the present day?

“We are really good friends still,” Vassos spilled on the Two Jersey Js with Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Fessler podcast. When asked if they were still in touch, the 62-year-old responded, “Yeah, we stay in touch.”

Jennifer Fessler followed up and said she wondered if Turner wanted to give his relationship with Vassos another try after his marriage to Nist ended. “I’m not gonna comment,” Vassos quickly replied. She did not elaborate further.

Vassos joined The Golden Bachelor in hopes of finding love after her husband died of pancreatic cancer. The Maryland native was married for over 30 years and is the mother of four children.

While getting to know Turner on the spinoff, Vassos discovered that she would be able to open up her heart to finding love again. “Even if it wasn’t with him, I started realizing that I was going to be able to do that. My heart was going to be able to get there,” she said. When Vassos decided to leave the competition, her goodbye with Turner was “painful.”

When Vassos began her stint as the lead of The Golden Bachelorette, Turner made sure to show his support. He appeared on The Golden Bachelor spinoff to lend Vassos some advice at the start of her journey.
