Lamar Odom Explains What Led to Shocking Khloé Kardashian Reunion
Former spouses Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom reunited in the trailer for the upcoming season of The Kardashians, and fans have been curious as to what led to this surprising meet-up.
The reality TV mogul and her ex-husband have a long history. Their 2009 nuptials made their way into E!‘s Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and they even got their own spinoff, Khloé & Lamar. However, their marriage didn’t last. From filing for divorce in 2013 to standing by his side during Odom’s troubles, the Good American founder and the former Los Angeles Laker have been through a lot over the years.
In an appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Odom opened up to the hosts about reconnecting with Kardashian. The 45-year-old stated, “Me and Khloe have a mutual friend, her name is Malika [Haqq],” Odom said during the interview on January 19. “I bumped into her in Las Vegas I think it was Super Bowl weekend. She came to me and said, “You know, Lamar, I think it’s time for you and Khloé…it’s been years. You haven’t seen her. If you’re up for it, I think I could make it happen.”
Well, Haqq clearly made it happen. There’s evidence of Kardashian and Odom’s encounter since it was filmed for the show. This initially shocked Odom, who didn’t know a camera crew was following his ex-wife at that moment. “I went there, and it was cameras there,” he said. “It’s cool, I understand it.”
The former spouses wed in 2009 after dating each other for a month, and although splitting in 2013, the two weren’t officially divorced until 2016. They broke up following years of scandals, but Kardashian stopped the proceedings in 2015 after Odom’s near-fatal drug overdose at a Nevada brothel. After his recovery in 2016, the pair dissolved their marriage.
Now, questions about a possible romantic reconnection have been sparked as the trailer teases the reunion to be nothing short of emotional. Kardashian proclaimed, “Timing is everything,” as she explained their moment together in Vegas to Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner.
A quick shot of Odom walking into the house holding a bouquet of flowers follows, and then the camera cuts to Jenner, who was in tears as she shared, “That was the love of her life.”
Yet, Odom dissuades the possibility of rekindling their love story, “I wouldn’t say back together,” he began. “It would be a blessing to be her friend.”
In the years since their separation, Kardashian has become a mother. She shares two children with ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson: True, 6, and Tatum, 2.
He emphasized, “So much time has passed. And people change. I think it’s healthy sometimes to move on. In a healthy way. Like I said, it would be a blessing to be her friend, just to be around her.”
