‘Maxton Hall’s Harriet Herbig-Matten Reveals Relationship Status With Costar Damian Hardung
Maxton Hall‘s main characters Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James Beaufort (Damian Hardung) have such intense chemistry that rumors of them hooking up in real life were inevitable. The German actors portrayed the enemies-to-lovers plot with as much passion it deserves, and the romantic teen drama became a massive hit for Prime Video.
So, what’s the deal with Herbig-Matten and Hardung? Are they actually dating in real life? In a new interview with German model Stefanie Giesinger on the podcast G Spot, Herbig-Matten finally addressed those rumors.
After being prompted by Giesinger about whether the 21-year-old star thinks it’s “annoying” that most of the online promo revolved around whether or not she and costar Hardung are an item or not, she said, “Yes, it was difficult.”

Herbig-Matten added that rumors about the two of them hooking up are still swirling around the internet today. This shocked Giesinger, who repeated Herbig-Matten’s statement.
To be clear once and for all, Herbig-Matten once again emphasized, “We are not together, and we weren’t together either.” Happy about her professional success, the budding actor divulged that she does understand why it happened.
“It was a crazy experience, and it’s also clear that it’s such a love story,” she continued. “There’s PR, and that you promote that, but I think I really underestimated it and think I was also a bit naive because I didn’t really know where it was going. I also didn’t know how big it was going to be. I didn’t know people believed it so much.”
Baffled by the entire experience, Herbig-Matten remembered reading the comments about how they were in love, and suddenly the feeling of “pressure” for it to be “true” took over her body. She said, “Then I’ll do people justice and then they’ll be happy.”
Even though it took her a while, she finally found a way to distance herself from the version of “Harriet” who promotes the project, and the “Harriet” she is in private.
The relationship rumors are likely to kick up again with the release of Maxton Hall — The World Between Us Season 2, which is expected to be released in 2025.
