Anyone slightly in touch with British celebrity culture knows about Molly-Mae Hague, the Love Island UK star who built an empire, but fewer people know the situation with her ex-fiancé, Tommy Fury. There is so much to dive into when it comes to the Molly-Mae and Tommy lore.
Standing by his side for five years, fans of Hague alluded that the same could not always be said about him. Often dropping their cozy existence in Greater Manchester to hop on flights and follow his boxing adventures, Hague was often seen on the sidelines. Meanwhile, she was also still busy building out her own business plans.
In between all of their professional success, the love story between them seemed to soar until news in August 2024 hit that they had decided to split. So, what went wrong between these two? How did Molly-Mae and Tommy meet?
The former couple met on Love Island UK Season 5. Fury was part of the original cast and first paired up with Lucie Donlan. When Hague entered the villa, he quickly switched up, and the two’s connection was noticed by the audience. Becoming one of the show’s most popular duos, the 25-year-old content creator’s Instagram following skyrocketed from 160,000 to almost three million. In the years since, her following has risen to over eight million.

Hague and Fury ended up being the Season 5 runners-up. Favorite Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea won that year, but they broke up just weeks after leaving the Spain-based mansion.
Do they have kids?
Yes, they have one daughter, Bambi. She was born on January 23, 2023.
Both parents are involved in her life. Hague briefly touched upon their co-parenting relationship in a September vlog. Noting that Bambi “senses” their split, Hague documented, “I’ve had quite a positive day today, this weekend was a lot more positive than I thought it was going to be. We went to the soft play this morning and then Tommy picked Bambi up this afternoon, spent the afternoon with her, so things are going well.”
When did they get engaged?
After getting into a relationship in 2019, Hague and Fury became engaged in summer 2023, four years after they met.
Luring her to Ibiza for a pretend brand deal, Fury set up a romantic experience, which included petals of white roses, perfectly curated bouquets, and a view of the ocean. To make the picture complete, he had their daughter in his arms on July 23, 2023.
When he went down on one knee, Hague started to cry. The whole engagement was filmed and shared on social media. Hague posted the black-and-white shot clip. A day later, Fury followed by including a photo of the moment in his feed. At the time he captioned it, “To my perfect fiancé… forever wouldn’t be long enough to call you mine 🤍♾️”

After news of their breakup hit, fans went back to these moments to state that they were also grieving the relationship. Some even commented, “Love is fake.”
Why did Tommy and Molly-Mae split?
The Filter by Molly-Mae founder announced her split from Fury in August 2024 on social media. “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this,” she said. “After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.”
Hague didn’t detail what happened and assured her followers that she still holds love in her heart for her ex. She emphasized, “I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.”
With plenty speculating that Fury cheated, he finally spoke out to dissuade the rumors in January 2025. In an interview with Men’s Health U.K., he said, “We broke up because I had a problem with alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore.
Fury, an amateur boxer who has previously beaten YouTube star-turner-boxer Jake Paul, explained that his excessive drinking began after an injury. “Where I’d normally be in camp, I’d just be smashing Guinness left, right and centers, then later on in the night shots would come out. Most nights I would to drink to get black-out drunk,” he revealed. While he reiterated that “cheating was never a thing,” he does take the blame on himself. Not wanting sympathy, Fury also stressed that his focus was on their daughter.
Are they dating anyone today?
Neither one of them is dating anyone as of January 2025. The former item was on the road to marriage and spent the last five years attached to the hip, so they might need a bit more time to move on romantically. However, they could also be dating people in private and trying to keep their relationships out of the public eye.
