Ben Stiller Shares Rare Christine Taylor Relationship Update After Separation
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are one of Hollywood’s most beloved power couples. The couple tied the knot in 2000 but shocked everyone when separated for a while in 2017.
After keeping their separation and reconciliation under wraps for years, Stiller laid it all out while promoting the upcoming Severance season.
“I think not that many people do come back together when they separate,” Stiller opened up to The New York Times about his relationship with his wife and fellow actor.
The actors, who appeared in movies like Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Zoolander, never really disappeared from each other’s lives. They kept being co-parents to their children, Ella and Quinlin, but in the years leading up to the pandemic, their relationship was struggling.
“When we separated, it was just having space to see what our relationship was, what my life felt like when we weren’t in that relationship, how much I loved our family unit,” he said.
Stiller further explained, “It was like three or four years that we weren’t together, but we always were connected.”
Growing apart, Stiller and Taylor made a tough decision to take some time apart. However, according to the Severance executive producer, their separation was never going to be permanent. “In my mind, I never didn’t want us to be together. I don’t know where Christine was, you’d have to ask her,” he noted.
The 59-year-old actor continued, “But COVID put us all together in the same house.” In 2020, Stiller and Taylor were back in close proximity to each other when the family was all living in close quarters. Yet, they didn’t immediately get back together. Instead, it took the item almost a year to find their way back to their former romantic connection. “There’s nothing like that when you come back,” he revealed.
Stiller added, “You have so much more appreciation for what you have because we know we could not have it.”
