‘Sister Wives’: Where Kody Brown Stands With All His Wives Today
When Sister Wives premiered in 2010, Kody Brown had three wives and was integrating a fourth into the family. However, a lot has changed since then.
Between 2021 and 2023, three of Kody’s wives left him, leaving him in a monogamous relationship for the first time since the early 1990s. The aftermath of the splits has been documented for TLC viewers on Sister Wives.
Scroll down for a status update on Kody’s relationship with Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown.
Meri Brown
Meri was the first woman to marry Kody. They tied the knot in 1990 and had one child together, but divorced in 2014 so the family patriarch could legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her children from a previous relationship. Still, Meri and Kody stayed spiritually married until their 2023 split.
However, the former couple had been having issues for years before calling it quits for good. Their relationship struggles intensified after Meri was involved in a catfishing scandal in 2015. She embarked in an online relationship with a person she believed to be a man named Sam. It was later revealed, though, that the person on the other side of the screen was actually a woman named Jackie.
Although Meri insisted in December 2023 that the scandal wasn’t what “broke” her marriage to Kody, the situation definitely seemed to further the already-growing rift between them. They announced their split in a joint statement in January 2023.

A few months later, Meri relocated from Arizona to Utah. The move was documented in Season 19 of Sister Wives in December 2024. The TLC star enlisted Kody’s help with the move, and he got unexpectedly emotional as he dropped her off.
However, Meri and Kody’s relationship is still quite distant due to the fact that they live in different states. “I don’t talk with [Kody and Robyn] very much,” Meri told Swooon in December 2024. “I just kind of live my life, and when our paths cross when we need them t, then we do. But it’s not like friend status or best friend status, where you’re just checking in and sharing stories all the time. It’s not that.”
Following her split from Kody, Meri briefly dated a man in early 2024. She also debuted an apparent new relationship with a “mystery man” named Brandon Stone in December 2024.
Janelle Brown
Kody and Janelle got married in 1993 after her previous marriage to Meri’s brother in the 1980s. The exes never legally wed but had six children and were spiritually married until their 2022 split.
The COVID-19 pandemic took a major toll on Kody and Janelle’s relationship. She was forced to choose sides when Kody refused to spend time with their kids — particularly Robert “Garrison” Brown and Gabe Brown — because they wouldn’t follow the strict guidelines he put in place. While Janelle insisted the family was sticking to the CDC protocols, Kody wasn’t willing to risk it, which drove a wedge between him and his sons.
Ultimately, this pushed Janelle out, as she wasn’t willing to sacrifice spending time with her kids just so Kody would see her. It also led to her having feelings of resentment against Robyn, whom she felt Kody was favoring over the other wives.

Despite their breakup, Kody and Janelle came together in March 2024 following the Garrison’s death at the age of 25. They released a joint statement to share the news with viewers.
Later that year, Janelle began putting roots down on the East Coast, where her daughter Madison Brush (née Brown) lives with her husband and kids. Janelle bought a piece of land in North Carolina and started a new business, Taeda Farms, with her daughter.
On a December 2024 episode of Sister Wives, Janelle hinted that her relationship with Kody remains estranged when she didn’t invite him to their daughter Savannah’s graduation party. “Kody is alienated from 90 to 95 percent of his children,” she said. “He is not really wanted at events. He is not coming regardless of who he brings or doesn’t bring with him.”
Christine Brown
Christine was Kody’s third wife, whom he spiritually married in 1994. They also welcomed six children together. However, Christine was the first wife to leave Kody. After months of hinting that she was ready to move on, she ended their relationship in 2021 and moved to Utah from Arizona later that year.
While a lot had been building up that led to Christine’s decision, she said it was ultimately seeing the Sister Wives children in happy relationships that made her realize her marriage was strained. “It wasn’t until I saw Maddie and Caleb [Brush] together and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, this is what soulmates look like.’ I see,” she told TODAY.com in 2023. Christine made it clear that she did not feel loved and appreciated by Kody by the end of their relationship.

Christine met David Woolley on a dating app in 2022 and went public with their relationship on Valentine’s Day 2023. That April, they got engaged and tied the knot just six months later.
Now that Christine has moved on in more ways than one, she has virtually no relationship with Kody. In fact, things are quite contentious between them, as Christine filed a custody lawsuit against her ex-husband in September 2024. The exes share a minor daughter, Truely, who moved to Utah with Christine after the split.
In September 2024, Christine sued Kody for child support and custody of Truely. She also requested paternity of the teenager, noting that Kody was not listed on her birth certificate. The reality stars are set to face off in court in May 2025.
Robyn Brown
Robyn is Kody’s fourth wife but the only one who’s still in a relationship with the head of the household. They married in 2014 and had two children together, in addition to Robyn’s three kids from her previous marriage.
Although Robyn and Kody have stuck it out, he admitted on a September 2024 episode of Sister Wives, “Robyn and I are really kind of in a struggling place.” She added, “We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been tough. It’s been tough between us.”
