Kieran Culkin, the 2025 Golden Globe winner and Succession actor, has famously kept his private life under wraps, but he is publicly forthcoming about one personal matter: how crazy he is about his wife, Jazz Charton. The New York-residing couple has made multiple public appearances over the course of Culkin’s acting career, often laughing and having fun on the usually buttoned-up red carpets.

At the most recent Golden Globe Awards hosted by Nikki Glaser, Culkin won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in A Real Pain also starring Jesse Eisenberg. He attended with his wife, Charton, who was seated next to him and congratulated him with a kiss upon the announcement during the ceremony. Then, Culkin mentioned her and admitted at the top of his acceptance speech: “My wife and I did a shot of tequila with Mario Lopez. Definitely feeling that! Whole speech is gone!”

Last year, Culkin won another Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama for his performance in Succession, where he mentioned Charton yet again during his speech. She was also in attendance. “The first acknowledgment I got as an actor was a Golden Globe nomination,” he said at the 2024 ceremony. “I was basically a kid, and so that meant a lot. Now it’s like the best date night that my wife and I have ever had.”

How did the two meet?

Culkin and Charton met at a bar in New York City’s Lower East Side in 2012. According to multiple interviews, it was quickly love at first sight. “I saw her, and I yelled, ‘Holy shit!'” he said on a recent episode of the Smartless podcast. Though Charton was seated at a table with another man, as soon as the man left his seat for the bathroom, Culkin took the seat and introduced himself after confirming the man was not her boyfriend.

Upon hearing her name is spelled like the four-lettered music genre, he immediately remarked, “Well, that’s stupid.” Much to his surprise, instead of turning away, Charton laughed, and the rest is history.

Is Charton also an actress?

No, Charton is originally from London. She mentioned that she was raised by her single mother, a model and artist named Corinne Charton, also known as Coco. The model has posted photos of Culkin and Charton together on her Instagram, photos she had taken herself.

Charton moved to New York City in 2010 to work in an ad agency’s music department, according to a 2021 Hollywood Reporter interview with Culkin.

How long have they been together?

They started dating shortly after the 2012 meet cute and got married in 2013. According to an anniversary post from Charton in 2017, they got married during a six-week-long road trip that ended up getting extended to three and a half months, getting a marriage license in Iowa and saying “I do” with three strangers.

Do they have any kids?

They have two kids. Kinsey Sioux was born during the fall of 2019. Two years later, they had a second child named Wilder Wolf. The two are now five years old and three years old, respectively. In 2021, on the Ellen Degeneres Show, Culkin admitted it took them seven weeks to pick their son’s name.

“My wife wanted Wolf,” he said. “But instead of pulling the trigger on it, [they thought] ‘Let’s torture ourselves for about seven weeks.'” The two found the name in the hospital the day that he was born, but argued about other options until finally coming around to the decision.

How does Culkin feel about fatherhood?

In a 2018 interview with iNews, Culkin expressed his uncertainty about having kids. “It just seems like a lot to take on,” he shared. “I suppose if she gets pregnant, that would be fine, but it’s really not on our horizon.”

Fast-forward to today, and Culkin could not feel any more differently on the topic. In January 2024, Culkin won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series and joked about wanting more kids at the end of his speech.

“And of course my beautiful wife Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,” he said. “And Jazz, I want more.” As Charton laughed from the audience, Culkin added, “You said maybe if I win. I love you so much.”
