Nikki Glaser Roasts Benny Blanco Over Selena Gomez Romance in Golden Globes Monologue
And the Golden Globes are off! Nikki Glaser has done what she does best and publicly obliterated yet another man: Selena Gomez‘s new fiancé, Benny Blanco, during her opening monologue at this year’s awards ceremony.
Glaser addressed the couple directly, praising Selena’s double nomination for her performance in the musical film Emilia Perez as well as the Hulu comedy-mystery series Only Murders in the Building. She quickly followed her compliment to address her fiancé, Blanco, but not without her quick wit and razor-sharp jokes.
“Selena Gomez is a double nominee and here with her fiancé. Benny Blanco is here thanks to a genie that granted his wish. Man, lucky guy,” quipped Glaser.
The two responded well to the jab. Gomez gestured well-naturedly to express her dissent while Blanco kissed Gomez on her shoulder. Neither party seemed upset or offended by the joke.
Gomez’s relationship with Blanco has marked the Rare Beauty founder’s first public relationship during which she has been extremely open about her positive feelings towards the record producer and songwriter. “I’ve never been loved this way,” Gomez told Vanity Fair. “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life,” added Gomez. “He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”
The couple first announced their engagement via Instagram on December 11, 2024, after one year of dating. Gomez showed off her engagement ring and photos with her beloved. “Forever begins now,” she captioned her post.
Glaser hosted this year’s awards in Beverly Hills, California, following her recent and well-received Netflix appearance on The Roast of Tom Brady. Last year’s Golden Globes were hosted by Jo Koy, who infamously bombed at the ceremony after delivering misogynistic jokes about various female celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Meryl Streep as well as the Barbie film.
