Throwback With TV Guide Magazine: Teri Hatcher Swoons Over ‘Desperate Housewives’ Cover 20 Years Later (VIDEO)

Desperate Housewives was that show back in the day. The delicious ABC drama, which ran from 2004 to 2012, became a cultural phenomenon. Twenty years ago this year, Teri Hatcher and costar James Denton graced the cover of TV Guide Magazine and made us swoon.

With the sunset in the background and their passionate embrace, Hatcher and Denton were the definition of romance. Step aside, Fabio! “This is just another iconic shot. Seriously, these are going to go at my funeral. They’ll be part of the slideshow of my funeral,” the actress told Swooon while also referencing her 1996 TV Guide Magazine cover.

Looking at her cover with Denton, Hatcher sweetly said, “But we should do a TV show together, I’m just saying.”

She even addressed a reboot of Desperate Housewives and why it ultimately doesn’t make sense for Susan. “That was the worst thing about when people ask about a Desperate Housewives reboot. Of course, I’m so grateful for the fans that would want that, but it’s sort of like, you killed Susan’s love of her life. I’m not sure where she goes from there,” she admitted.

Hatcher continued, “I don’t know that there’s a win situation in this, but there certainly was here,” referring to the 2004 cover.

While there’s no way for Mike to be brought back in a potential reboot — he was killed in a drive-by shooting on Wisteria Lane — Hatcher hopes she and Denton will work together onscreen again. “I think we’re both open to it. We just have to find the right idea,” she said. They already reunited in the 2021 holiday movie A Kiss Before Christmas.

The How to Fall in Love by Christmas star has been featured on several covers of TV Guide Magazine throughout the years. Her first was in 1996, a gorgeous shot of Hatcher emerging from a pool dressed in a gorgeous white dress. “This was definitely the first photo shoot that made me feel, I don’t know, like the way you feel about doing Vogue or something like that. That’s what the quality of this shoot was back in the day,” the actress said as she flipped through the magazine and looked back fondly at her memories.
