Trista Sutter is setting the record straight.

The original star of The Bachelorette has been married to her season’s winner, Ryan Sutter, since 2003. However, in May, fans started to think that there was trouble in paradise. Now, Trista is finally explaining what really happened.

When prompted by ET, Trista stated “All good in the Sutter household,” while pointing at her wedding ring. “Yes, we’re very happy.”

The reason why fans had suspicions that they might’ve been on the rocks was because of a cryptic Instagram post Ryan had shared in May.

The 50-year-old dad of two began his message with, “I really wish I could talk to you. Ask you how you’re doing? How was your day. I’d really like to hear your voice – just for a minute. So many times I’ve called without much to say, not realizing how lucky I was or how much I’d miss the opportunity if it were gone.”

Comments started to pop up asking about what had happened between Trista and Ryan, with some wondering whether Trista was “dead” or that she’d had “a nervous breakdown.” Others assumed something must’ve happened between the two of them and speculated that a “divorce” or “trial separation” was set in place. Yet, none of those things were true.

Trista was simply just a contestant on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. She was not allowed to have her phone while partaking in the experiment, so Ryan shared his thoughts about missing her publicly so that his wife of 21 years could look back on it once she was back.

He continued, “I want to know how you’re doing. I want to support and encourage and cheer you on. I want to be there for you. But I can’t. And that’s ok cause I know you need this time – time to discover yourself again. So I’ll be here for you instead. I’ll be here when you get back. I’ll be here to listen to you, to smile with you, maybe cry with you – I’ll be here to love you… I’ll be here… forever.”

When asked about this post by ET, Trista explained, “If you read in context, it totally makes sense.” Sadly, no one knew. Instead, they jumped to conclusions.

Although the fans were very wrong about the situation, Trista revealed that she was kind of flattered. “People actually still care,” she said. When she returned from filming, the reaction that had been ignited by Ryan’s post proved to be a “crazy” awakening for Trista. Luckily, the couple has since assured everyone that they’re still happily married.
